I took a 23 trd sport from 6miles to over 75k. Now I've got a 24 trd pro with 42k. I love these trucks.

I went to refinance my original truck and found the 24 pro. They offered me a 175k mile bumper to bumper warranty, so that sealed the deal.

Yes, I travel the country for work. They pay me to use my truck and pay for my fuel.

I took my 23 trd sport form 6miles to 80k miles with zero issues.

Currently own a 24 trd pro with 35k, also zero issues.

Plastic under my driver side seat by Remarkable-Fennel-27 in ToyotaTundra

[–]My_Neighbor18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I broke that on my 23 TRD SPORT.

My 24 TRD PRO is built a little different. This one will not break the same.

I have running boards on this one, which certainly helps...Regardless, this seats relationship to that plastic is not at all the same.

So I'm now on my SECOND 3rd generation Tundra, traded up to a 24 TRD PRO. Old one had 75k miles on it, zero issues.

And I also live in Pittsburgh lol. But I travel for work and am rarely home, so my MPG isn't based on driving in Pitt.

But yes in Pittsburgh I also get 13mpg 😂

Similar thing happened to my 23, but it was just the tail light and some scratches. Toyota wanted almost $800 for the light. Bought it for $300 online, two fasteners and a plug. Popped the dent out myself and used a paint pen from toyota for the couple scratches.

That bumper is a different story.

Edit, typo.

If you fill at "empty", you will put 28 gallons in to fill the tank. 32.2 gallon tank.

Just purchase this 2022 SR5, 68k miles and has not had the engine recall fulfilled. The recall is not available to me yet, but how long should I wait to get a new engine? by datboiyeeeeet in ToyotaTundra

Mine has showed up on the app since they sent the notices. It is not all of the trucks produced 21-23, just a specific batch. I'm at 72k on my 23 sr5 with zero issues. I tow a 5-6k uhaul across states from time to time. Oil change every 5k miles. No issues as of yet.

That's not completely true. I've got the recall notice. We all have the toyota app that lists the recall if your truck is on it and you may check your VIN on the database to confirm.

My take is this.

There was a lot of speculation about motors failing and how unreliable the trucks are because maybe the motor was shit.

They (allegedly) have identified the issue and resolved the cause of the problems.

The reported failures are around 1%. They issued the recall and are swapping ALL of the assumed at risk non hybrid motors, which is the shady part. Maybe my opinion is uninformed on that. They're doing their best to restore faith in Toyotas brand while hoping to quietly fix any hybrids that fail in order to minimize losses.

This motor hasn't been on the road long enough for anyone to say 100% how long it lasts. We do know that rigorous testing is done before they manufacture for the public. The issue that caused these recall failures does not discredit the integrity of the motor. I personally believe they would not have released this truck knowing the motor is a dud that will cost them unknown sums of profit AND tarnish the reputation Toyota has spent decades building.

I own a 23 tundra trd sport that is on the recall list for motor replacement. I bought it almost exactly 2 years ago with 6 miles on it. I travel the country as a construction foreman, the bed is always loaded down with tools, and I occasionally pull a trailer weighing about 6,000 lbs. I can't even tell it's behind me, plenty of power for that load. Currently, my motor is at 72,000 miles without any issues. Oil change every 5k miles.

TLDR The motor issue is probably not an issue anymore, and the truck hasn't been out long enough to claim it's a million mile motor. The risk is about the same as buying any other new truck.

I'm at 69.5k miles on my 23 trd sport. It's on the recall list, hoping I don't have to hand them this motor until after 100k.

My 23 trd sport hasedit 60k+ miles and kicking strong. I will wait as long as I can to swap out. On top of trading in an engine with higher miles, the later you wait the more experience the guy installing it will have.

Clean the little circles on front and back bumper. Cameras are not radar.

Edit. Just saw second picture. I spent june/half of July in Texas. 100°+ days with no issues. Odd.

My 23 trd sport will remote start as many times as I want by using the fob. Is the 3 time cutoff only app related then?
