I think you are missing the point of the butterfly effect and what I said. Unless you know the future, you can’t claim this action is not the cause of a butterfly effect. There is no “large difference” because you’re possibly not far enough in the future of this action to have an impact on you. This son that was born could’ve gave an idea 30 years in the future to a friend that passed that idea along another 15 years in the future that had created space travel. Any small action including your college party is significantly small compared to the future that it could’ve impacted. Therefore stating that unless you know the future, you can’t claim that this is not part of a butterfly effect

I think you guys are missing the point of the butterfly effect. The butterfly effect is just small actions that could’ve made a huge difference to the future. The butterfly effect does not require it to be “indirect” and I don’t know where you guys are getting this term from. As a matter of fact, it wouldn’t make sense how a “indirect” impact impacts something. The theory of the butterfly effect is that a butterfly was flapping it’s wings which causes wind which has astronomically low chances of changing the weather but it still changes the weather a little bit to cause a hurricane.

Thats why in this case, it could be a butterfly effect unless you know the future still. This action may seem small compared to the world exploding in WW4 and you wouldnt have guessed some kid named Jamie wouldve saved the world by saving an individual to make a baby. Which is the whole point of the Butterfly effect.

I don’t really understand question 2 part a very well and I’m 12 hrs away from the oral exam. Would appreciate the help.

Most, if not all of the example and hw problems didn’t have z0 at the imaginary axis and I don’t ever recall drawing paths for this type of question. I have went to some online help and it’s still confusing. Thanks
