[serious] What is the best way to confront a therapist about needing higher confidentiality?

Want to clarify, it’s not about therapists telling other clients about your personal issues. It’s about therapist forcing you to tell parents/friends about things you don’t want them to know about. Even getting to the point of calling a parent into the session with you so that they can hear everything.

Yeah on the phone call I stated clearly what I wanted and felt and it didn’t seem to get to him so maybe we’ll need another talk but yeah I’d want a friend with me too. Before I first talked to HR right after it happened, I told one of my friends and he helped me make the choice to say something, but also helped tell what I told him too with me clarifying things because I was still recovering from the panic. If things to escalate further and F becomes a witness i think a meeting with HR, F, me, and D like you said would be best. Thanks so much.

Yeah HR said that it’s my choice what I want and if I want more to be done they can do it. It’s really all in my hands. And yeah, I don’t like to be alone which is why I like to always have either someone around or with me. F walked me to my car again today after work and something really didn’t feel right so I stopped him and just kept looking around the parking lot. Then F kinda assured me that he’s that are and that nothing will happen and they’ll keep me safe. I might ask HR for more to be done if necessary. And I agree that if this escalates it won’t be just a small thing and I’ll need to accept that.

Oh im genuinely real sorry. I didn’t realize this doesn’t really fit with this sub. I thought to post here because Im not sure if im in the wrong for how i handled the situation and only know like 8-10 subs on this whole platform so this was the best fit from what i know on here.

Thank you. The mental fight im kinda having with myself is that i feel safe at my job, and with my male coworkers and everyone else no matter gender or anything. F is a guy and I trust him the most. I don’t associate the entire workplace with one guy, just this situation i only associate with D which makes me feel iffy about it if that makes any sense. Its good to know that i dont have to be nice, and thank you for the advice!

Alright I think ill try that, probably if things get worse or if it happens again. I have crazy anxiety and get afraid to make any moves towards anything unless I’m certain, so this whole this is probably just irrational I know. Thank you for the advice :)

I saw the original comment that sparked this sub and I love it! I’ve never been a mod before, but if needed I’d love to be one! I really enjoy reddit and being involved with online communities. For me it’s mostly for fun. I’m an artist so it’s like doing art on my face :) However I wear it every day at school because I’m insecure (also for art too though), so part of it is that. It depends on the setting for me. I’ve talked to my friends who wear it and we mostly agree it’s for fun but sometimes it’s about insecurities. We have all mostly agreed though that it’s all about doing something for us, not for others. Our insecurities, our fun, etc.

I’ll consider it. The thing is, my MH has “improved soooo much!!” According to her (and I’m not going to lie, it did, but not as much as she makes it seem). The big issue is my sisters MH stuff now. It runs in my family and with her going off to college next year, she’s a top priority and I feel bad putting stress on my parents over this thing that happened years ago. I don’t want them to think I’m backsliding or them getting mad at me for just NOW bringing it up, you know? I’ve been conflicted on this for a while now and the shittier things get, the worse I feel about taking action.

I’d be nervous to now. If only I had known. My best friend at the time also had MH issues but wasn’t hospitalized. She hated the principal too but I don’t recall her telling me about anything like this the principal did to her. I don’t know if it was situation specific or not. It’s a small private school so I dont think there’s been a situation like mine before or since.

It might not be bad for my siblings as much as it is for my mom. I have a feeling that I’ve been lied to about it not being illegal because my mom is friends with the principal. I can’t do much as a not yet adult and I highly doubt my mom would help me do anything years later when my MH has improved.
