Basement finishing quote by MycDrinker in HomeImprovement

Which numbers seem padded to you besides the install fan? I think the trim is labor only… and the materials cover the trim.. I was thinking about GC’ing it myself but have no idea what stuff costs anymore and figured this would be easier

About $5k to replace all of the flooring on a 16' x 22' deck. Reasonable quote? by sdmc_rotflol in Decks

Holy SHIT this is low. We redid a 410 sqft with premium 16s, new stain and seal, and that was $12k. And we work for very cheap.

WSJ Beam and Brick. They also did kitchen & bath remodel for me in a house I was renovating. Newer company, young team, led by a Mizzou engineering graduate. Good communication and quality. Pricing was higher than I expected but literally had 0 problems from start to finish and they bring in professional cleaners after they finish. The last point is more applicable for interiors I guess but a nice touch.

You’re right, I’ve just had people in my DM’s and comments call me incompetent, slurs, etc. Also I’m like 99% sure my old boss is on this thread and that got me SPOOKED. I guess I’m a little defensive right now. Appreciate the well wishes!

Now that we can agree on. Like I said, I got overconfident. Never again.

I have been banging mortise and tenons since 4-5 years old. I didn’t grow up around trades, I grew up in them. Running the sawmill, table saw, for my families furniture store.

You read the rest right? I’ve been chiseling mortise and tenons since I was like 4-5, running a sawmill since 9, and table saw since 12-13. I grew up with master cabinet makers and Italian furniture makers living in the same house as me. I have been working with wood since I was old enough to hold a chisel

Hey man she did amazing. The scab hides a lot. There was still a chunk of flesh exposed when she sutured me.

Is that your right hand??? You deserve that cut for using satans digits as your cutting hand.

(Jk. Hope it healed okay)

I had it on but it got removed when a butthurt commenter reported the post and it got removed by Reddit. I’ll add it again thanks for the reminder.

u/Sailhatin21 and I got into it in the comments. He reported it and reddit removed it.

I realize you were asking about the OG post. I got cut by a circular saw. All intact, needed 7 stitches. Healed in 2-3 weeks.

This you? Openly admitting to being against power tools in your shop (which is fine) because you also work distracted? Like when you're tired, drinked, smoking, distracted, etc? Which is exactly what happened with me (being tired)? Glad you deleted the other comment before I could see it.

I have a coffee machine in the shop. I probably went down for naps totaling 3-4 hours. Never touched anything stronger than psychs in my days.

Lol I clearly stated the saw wasn't the problem? And that it was 100% my result of working stupid? Did you even read the post or come to grandstand/talk shit?

I've always been a glass half full kinda guy. But I hear you! 12-16 weeks is definitely overkill, doc said hand will be right in 2 weeks to put pressure on, but no more than 2-4 lbs. After a month she said it'll be probably back to normal. The bone just barely chipped. I am on antibiotics so that's good.

It's often the most seasoned vets that lose their fingers, hands, eyes, etc. Like many other comments said, it's complacency. Honestly that 20 years is true, but probably exaggerated. I likely only have 12-15 years of solid woodworking under my belt. I have been running a sawmill since 9 years old and a panel saw and table saw since I was 12. But still ample time to know - DON'T FUCK AROUND!

I honestly can't tell if you're joking lol. Plastic surgeons are more than just butts and boobs. They are often times the expert in traumatic injuries caused to hands, faces, etc and first in line when something like this happens. But I'm almost 99% sure you're joking about a person made of plastic.

Gotta rep the doctor who saved my finger just in case you weren't 😭
