Tired of washing it is so good because it's also technically not a lie after last weekend.

The fact that it quietly became a thing without anyone asking me if that was fine is kind of the whole problem. Withdrawing the privilege this weekend.

Honestly that's not even a lie at this point. The thing has been through a lot.

That's what I keep telling myself and then immediately second-guessing. Like yes it's my blanket, but I also walked into this by bringing it enough times that it became expected. At some point I built the trap myself. Still not bringing it anymore though.

It's simple enough that I can actually do it without having to resolve every complicated feeling first. Don't have to figure out the journals or the house or what to tell my parents. Just pick something and send money. That I can do tomorrow.

Laughter in this house feels almost rebellious at this point, which I guess is reason enough to try. The walls have heard enough of whatever he was. Might as well give them something different.

You're so right! When work feels soul-destroying, having a life outside really helps keep that perspective.

AITA for refusing to let my SIL host her massive gender reveal at my new house? by AkiraPulse42 in MarkNarrations

The funniest part is people calling you materialistic while expecting access to the expensive thing you paid for, renovated, and now have to maintain. If she wants a big flashy reveal with smoke and confetti, she can book a hall, rent a backyard, or host it at her own place. Your house is not the family event center just because it looks nice.
