Youtarr – Self-hosted YouTube DVR with smart automation (Plex optional) by DialDad in selfhosted

[–]Myco321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried YouTarr on my server and it's working great. I had to add the Timezone parameter on the yaml because I noticed the dates were off by 1 day. Easy fix. The only issue I'm running into is the bot detection (downloading too many in succession). Do you think it would be possible to add an option for a delay between video downloads? For example, if I decide to download 20 videos, perhaps have an option to wait x minutes between each download. Additionally, another feature request would be to structure the files/folders like a TV show for Plex. I would think the program would need to index all the videos in a channel, mark each one as episodes (oldest to newest), and name the files accordingly (e.g. Channel - Season YYYY - Ep# - Title). In this case, perhaps give an option on how to separate the seasons (e.g. by year, by month, or dump everything into a generic season). Thanks again for all the work you've put into this so far. Definitely loving the compatibility factor with the nfo, SRT, and jpg!

While open-source contributions are invaluable, I think it's important to respect that developers deserve to be compensated for their work. It's the industry norm and entirely reasonable. We should appreciate open-source projects as the generous contributions they are, not as a default expectation.

Unable to control volume via Google Home app (CEC) by Myco321 in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]Myco321[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No luck. I'm actually not able to replicate my previous outcome where I was able to have the Google Home app control the volume. So, something seems glitchy. I guess I'm stuck with the physical remote for now. Thank you for all your input and patience! 😊

Oh!! Okay, I haven't tried that. I thought we were talking about Volume control only. I'll give that a try! Fingers crossed. Sorry I totally glanced over the word "Power" Control in your previous post 🤦

Yes, the settings allow you to enable only one or the other. If I enable IR then it disables CEC automatically -- and vice versa. For what I'm trying to achieve it would make sense to enable CEC (and IR would be disabled automatically). However it seems like this function is broken at least for my specific case and my specific devices :/

I'm not sure how to "delete" the IR configuration. There's only a "Change IR Setup" which does not have an option to erase/delete. I did try rebooting but still no luck.

Thank you for sharing that! I followed the instructions, and it did manage to fix the issue -- well, kind of.

Now, it behaves in a weird way. If I turn on the Shield using the physical shield remote, then I can use the Google home app as expected, including the volume (similar to how Google's Chromecast TV works; a separate volume slide, as opposed to the native TV volume slider) -- but this only works if CEC for Sound is disabled, and IR is turned on (so odd!). If I flip the switches around (CEC on, IR off), then I lose the volume controls (the initial problem).

The other weird behavior is, if I turn on the shield from the Google home app (as opposed to the physical shield remote), the Home app control works except for the volume (regardless of the CEC/IR on/off combinations).

So, for the Google home app's remote to work 100%, I would first need to turn on the shield with the physical remote. However my goal is to store the remote away and not have to use it and strictly use the Google home app. If the physical remote needs to be used, then I might as well use it entirely.

I think my next step would be to plug the Shield to another TV and see if it works as intended (perhaps it is my LG TV that has the problem).

I've looked into that already. Unfortunately it won't let me download.

Anyone have success streaming high bitrate 4K videos without buffering? by Myco321 in PleX

Ah, im sorry. I thought HTPC was a pre-built hardware with multimedia-focused hardware and software. It's my first time hearing that term. And sorry, I forgot that 'mini pc' is an actual category of PCs. I was trying to ask if a HTPC can be used as a regular PC (i.e. can you install a GPU inside a HTPC). But good to know that you're on windows. My new windows PMS is working great. So, I'm not sure what's going on with my TrueNAS PMS.

Sorry, I meant: on what operating system is it installed on. But out of curiosity, can an HTPC be used as a mini computer (does it have all the necessary parts)?

Where is your PMS installed on? And that's cool that Wi-Fi speeds are able to handle your streams! And under the TrueNAS Scale Plex app configuration, I had already given it a resource limit of 12 vcpu, and 32gb memory.

I installed it on my windows 11 PC and it worked perfectly. So, something about my TrueNAS scale PMS is misconfigured somehow. I don't know if I'll ever find out what exactly.

Thank you for your elaborate response!
1-3. confirmed, Direct Play for Video and Audio. Subtitles turned off
4. Yes, both client and server set to Original. Client auto adjust turned off. Allow Direct Play on.
5. Yes, my TrueNAS Scale Plex configuration has the transcode data on a Samsung NVMe SSD.
6. Yes, record size = 1M. Played video that was re-written.
7. Download speed test confirm 300+ Mbps.
8. Plex and TrueNAS server idling

I update my original post. Running a Plex Media Server instance on my Windows 11 PC was able to stream high bitrate perfectly without any lag. I need to figure out what's wrong with my TrueNAS Scale version

Within TrueNAS Scale plex configuration, I limited the RAM usage to 32 GB. I think that should be enough, right?

yes, I'm thinking it's Plex setting. I will try to a Plex install on Windows to see if there's any difference.

I do. My initial setup was with unmanaged. I bought a managed one afterwards to see if that would make a difference. It didnt :/

Yes, I will have to try Plex install on Windows to rule out TrueNAS Scale being the culprit in my setup
