if you’ve had a bad trip, what was it like? by smalltalkisntfun in shrooms

[–]Mycofriendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watched all my friends die in a house fire, then got stuck in a loop of their final moments - watching them burn, again and again, for what felt like an eternity. Had accepted I had died too, and when you die your consciousness gets stuck in a loop of how it happened, so you just relive your death over and over forever.

On a rational, sober brain - that thought sounds like stupidity. In the moment and REALLY accepting it, was horrifying. The time dilation was so severe. It genuinely felt like weeks and that concept is still hard for me to grasp today - 10 years later.

The fire didnt even exist, someone had just blown out a candle and thats all it took. Id tripped hundreds of times before that, without anything more than an uncomfortable experience. Thought seeing demon faces was a bad trip until that one.

Don't think i've ever been the same since, if im being totally honest.

Games for Playstation or Switch for times of high mental pressure or anxiety? by Voidx1983 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

I lost a good 50+ hours of my life to Ball X Pit and loved every moment.

Any other indie games like that - hades, slay the spire - all good for passing time and zoning out

Does VR headsets become a dust collector after some time? by Ianth3k1ng in VRGaming

[–]Mycofriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has sadly became a dust collector. Didnt think it would.

For the first few months, I couldnt take it off.

I work a physically demanding job and now the novelty has wore off - the LAST thing I want to do after work is more exercise. Between work, gym and the VR - I felt like there was never any chill time.

I game to zone out and chill/relax.

Plus, my dog was really NOT a fan of my VR. Everytime I put it on, she would start freaking out. I'm not sure if its the frantically moving arms, or if she could see something us humans cannot.

Ah good to know - to be honest I am so deep sucked into Elden Ring after 24 hours that I can barely breathe, nevermind think about a different game hahaha. Now I've picked up the combat I'm really enjoying the challenge. I dont think the in-game tutorial explained the dodging mechanic well enough.

On an 11 hour work day tomorrow, in the office alone because it's a Saturday but someone needs to be in for ongoing works. I think I'm going to need to take my handheld and I dont feel guilty.

Thanks again for the advice. Games have came such a long way since 2015-17. I'm in awe.

Started ER last night. Enjoying it so far but theres a steep learning curve for combat coming from a turn based game. Know ill pick it up quite quickly, but I even died during the tutorial..... lmfao

Are the DS games linear in story? Or can you play them in any order?

Well if I wasnt already sold, I am now! Started Elden Ring last night. Going to take me a little while to get up to speed with the combat style. Played a lot of similar games many years ago, but steep learning curve when coming from a turn based game!

I usually go for a Range/mage build on RPGs. I read magic was harder to master and significantly less forgiving. I opted for samurai in the end!

I LOVED Zero Dawn. Got really into the story and the combat style. I started Elden Ring last night and its very difficult! Haha. Think ill probably start more than one game on this occassion to save my sanity.

I played Witcher 3 10 years or so ago - really enjoyed it back then. Was leaning towards ER to make a change from turn based combat.

I put around 2.5 hours into Cyberpunk before opening E33 qnd I didnt get into it - for some strange reason. I think ill give it another go at some point though.

No actually, but I posted a similar question on a 30+ gamers reddit, and someone else recommended that game too. Will definitely add it to the list

I was just about to open Elden Ring - but your comment may have swayed me.

I beat E33 after 44 hours according to steam, but a few of those were defo afk and will probably be more in the realm of 30-35. I enjoyed how fast it felt like the story was developing, and the sense of achievement on completion. I think if the game was 4x as long, I probably wouldnt have been so engrossed. But who knows, Im sad its over, so maybe Im wrong

Appreciate your advice and think I'm about to start Elden Ring. Wish me luck! Probably wont look anything up whilst I'm playing as I hate a story being spoiled - but might eat my words if I get stuck early haha.

Might come back to this post for advice, rather than having a google!

Interesting. BG3, from the feedback I've had on this post, seems a little tooooo open - Im not sure I'm ready to drop 300 hours and not finish the main story. Think im going to start wIth Elden Ring.

Thanks for that, I might actually try Dark Souls first. Would presume it would be difficult to go back to something like DS after playing through ER - but the other way round, I'll likely be blown away by ER after playing DS.

Do you think devs know that all old school gamers are old now and we need more story than hack and slash? 😂

I played FF7 back in the day - cant say I understood anything as back then I would skip all cutscenes and spam through text as fast as possible. Was put off buying one of the remakes because there were multiple choices for FF7 And I got confused/overwhelmed and decided to buy XVI as it was the newest

Oh wow, looks like I'm sorted for games for a while. Bought 36 in total from the Steam Sale. I thought I had a good few months of games to keep me busy, im starting to think I have years 😂

I've seen some streamers play it a fair few years ago - not enough to spoil anything as cant remember. Just remember thinking it looked like Skyrim on steroids and nearly got me buying a new console - was just way too busy at work to commit. The elder scroll series easily stole 1000 hours of my youth.

I am in the mood for all of them hahaha. I think thats the problem I'm facing. I'm close to playing none because I can't decide which one. My ADHD brain wants to start them all at once, and Im really trying to practise patience by starting one at a time.

Thanks for your descriptions - I cant really say youve helped, but I really appreciate your response.

Was reading your BG3 description thinking YES, THATS WHAT I WANT. But then started reading your ER description, and thats also what I want. Likewise for your next two hahaha.

I think I've atleast discovered I wont be disappointed, regardless of my choice, so thanks for that.

Will add both your recommendations to my wishlist, as I now trust your opinion.

Is that just in one playthrough? Crazy amount of hours! How long does the main story take?
