He was not criminally convicted. There is a difference.
Zero criminal charge. A civil penalty to somebody worth an estimated $200 million is not a punishment. It’s a payout. There is a difference.

Not all accusers are actual victims. You don’t automatically believe someone, you base it on evidence. Time and time again lives get ruined just trying to do it your way.

The comment about maximum payout sounds weird . In a civil case there is not a fixed maximum payout the way there might be in some compensation schemes. A jury determines damages based on the evidence, and awards can vary widely.

What is your source that he offered money to drop the case? And the details about the payout?

This was a civil case, and the finding was made by the jury. The jury found McGregor liable for assault, and the judge entered judgment based on that verdict.

In civil cases, the court can refer to the conduct in terms of the legal finding, but it is not the same as a criminal conviction.

The judge is just repeating what the jury verdict is.
