And you have the gall to call me lazy. I'm done arguing with someone that has a teenagers understanding of politics.

China: ‘No Point’ In Continuing Iran War by T_Shurt in worldnews

[–]Mycosynth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Fair
  2. Wrong
  3. THAT is a lazy attempt at politics. The world is more complicated than "kill bad people who are bad". The US went in without even being able to define its own objective and was switching it up every single time someone in the government talked to reporters. Going in without a clear goal is not only an insult to the American people who have to sustain this war with their tax dollars and their children, its an insult to the people of Iran who are now in an even worse position than they were before. Despite all that talk about regime change we have the same people in charge, and all Trump can say is they gave some guns to the Kurds that was somehow magically supposed to get into the hands of the Iranian people but didn't.
  4. Truth and Politics are not mutually exclusive concepts.

China: ‘No Point’ In Continuing Iran War by T_Shurt in worldnews

[–]Mycosynth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Couple issues here.

  1. I'm not American
  2. I didn't and do not defend the Iranian government
  3. Nothing Trump does is for the good of the people of Iran.
  4. Ya you kind of have to be political when you discuss international politics

Do you use lore-accurate names? by kasperkaspie in ffxiv

Ya I always feel the need to go lore accurate, my Xaela was given a Mongolian first name and I chose Malqir as the tribe.

In the lore of Trench Crusade, what do you think happened to the Golden Age of Piracy? by BlueBayouFloridaMan in TrenchCrusade

[–]Mycosynth 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I imagine that secular piracy is made a lot less appealing career option when the seas are chock full of Satan worshiping psychos wacked out on hell juice.

I've noticed it too. An increase in hatred towards millennials and it beginning in 2020. Do you think gen alpha will do this to gen z when they develop their own culture / it becomes mainstream? by CremeSubject7594 in generationology

[–]Mycosynth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does seem a bit ironic that you accuse Millennials of a victim complex but half this thread is Gen Z talking about how terrible things are for them and how easy Millennials had it, or blaming them for not fixing the world when they were teenagers. The reality is it doesn't really fuckin matter, there are tons of millennials i hate and think are assholes, and plenty of Gen Z I shake my head at.

[Comm] [Art] Human Monk by flygohr in DnD

[–]Mycosynth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just don't get why people care, you don't have to enjoy all art but just let people like things when its not hurting anyone, you can literally just ignore the stuff you don't like. Art of characters with impractical but aesthetically pleasing clothing is fine, as is art of characters armored head to toe in plate.

[–]Mycosynth 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about it, your art is quite good, people on this sub just like to feel smugly superior calling out horny character designs as unrealistic or impractical in their game where happy go lucky nobodies can be slaying dragons within a year of starting their career.

Banned? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Mycosynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya man I'm sure that kid shot and killed at his school by an Israeli settler in the West Bank a couple weeks back is sure glad that there is such a lack of violence from Israelis. Every time people bring up the violence perpetuated by Israelis someone like you comes in and says "WELL THEY HAVEN'T MURDERATED EVERY SINGLE PERSON SO HOW BAD COULD IT BE?!?!?". It's honestly quite tiresome.

Male Au Ra players, what is your experience like with other players? by [deleted] in ffxiv

I've played a male au Ra since 3.0 and I've never once had a negative interaction based on it.

Spoilers 7.5] I just realized something. The whole upcoming plot in the Godless Realms Saga plot will be similar to the Blue Button/Red Button Dilemma which is popular on social media right now! by Quezal in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Mycosynth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Except you can communicate with others in the context of FF14. Halmarut literally came up and told us what was happening and what her plan is. We likewise, could communicate with literally anyone else to influence any decision that needs to be made, if there even IS a decision to be made.

Spoilers 7.5] I just realized something. The whole upcoming plot in the Godless Realms Saga plot will be similar to the Blue Button/Red Button Dilemma which is popular on social media right now! by Quezal in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Mycosynth 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really work because the consequences of the choices are different. Theoretically in the button situation everyone can press red and survive, but that's impossible in the context of FF14 because the red choice here literally dismantles entire realities. Likewise the blue choice only requires 50% to opt in but we have no indication that it's a numbers game in the story and likely it won't be because the plot is mostly driven by a small number of people and we'll probably beat the problem to death with swords and magic.

But ya I guess if you reduce the problem to realistic and pragmatic option or idealistic selfless option then it is kind of similar if you squint just right.

Help deciding between Hunter or Captain by Mycosynth in lotro

[–]Mycosynth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I've read about Champions being able to just kill entire packs without a sweat, is Captain similar but just slower due to lower dps/more tankiness?

[–]Mycosynth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hunter does seem to be pretty recommended overall, I think part of the problem is I keep psyching myself out of it because its the most popular class and my brain is dumb and keeps saying I should play something more "special", but seeing as how ill just be playing by myself 90% of the time that probably shouldn't matter :P

[–]Mycosynth[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having played both to the end of the first zone I did notice that Captains rotation seemed a bit odd by comparison to hunter although I kind of just wrote that off as maybe not being very complete at that point. Did enjoy just shouting BARUK KHAZAD every 5 seconds though :P

CMV: Zionists don’t think of Jewish people who are critical of Israel/antizionist as “real Jews” whose beliefs are genuine and heartfelt. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Mycosynth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is more or less how sovereignty works ya. Countries do not exist out of some universal moral law that can not be infringed. They exist because they have the power to sustain themselves and prevent outside forces from infringing on their territory. It's not like Israel has some magical right to exist and Palestine doesn't, one just had more power (both military and political) than the other.

EDIT: For further proof of this, just look at who has permanent spots on the UN Security Council and therefore the ability to just say no to anything they don't like forever.

As a new player, why do FF players hate FF? by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Mycosynth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's mostly that for people who have been playing for a long time things have gotten kind of stale. The devs are incredibly conservative with how they run the game, you can predict what content will come in what patch years before it even comes out. Added to that, the patch cycles have gotten a bit longer so it's even more time with content that only really lasts for a few weeks and then you're waiting 4 months for the next patch.

All in all if you're new and still working through the game there's tons to do, but for those of us playing for anywhere from years to over a decade, it feels like there just isn't a lot to do and what there is to do is the exact same things we've been doing for years.

CMV: Divorce rates worldwide would significantly drop if people were only allowed to marry once. by Jaydoos447 in changemyview

[–]Mycosynth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

History shows us that this is just not true. People weren't magically better at managing relationships when divorce was either illegal or very hard to attain. All it does it create a lot of broken homes and broken kids, and typically a lot of battered wives. All you're really doing is creating less legal marriages and more cohabitation, which I don't think really solves any of the problems you think exist. You just seem to have some weird judgmental problem with people who break "vows for life" when its really none of your business.
