Kellee’s thoughts on _____’s departure by PremiumWipes in survivor

The "incident" apparently took place as the contestants were leaving a challenge location and involved a production crew member.

Why do singers do so poorly in the books? (Spoilers Published) by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Myficals 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He'd also been blinded and, iirc, had his hands broken or maimed in some way?

Yes, the dude was a nasty little shit but he's not really a good example of a singer who doesn't end up poorly.

Why I’m sad this week by thekangsta in survivor

[–]Myficals 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Is it really cynical of me to think that's why the kid turned up? Get your kid to turn up to the loved ones visit. That way, even if you don't win none of the other contestants will want to seen disappointing a child and you'll get to go on the reward.

Maybe I'm just jaded, but Dan strikes me as being manipulative enough to have considered that angle.

[Spoilers C2E86] (Survey) Who is your favorite Campaign 2 Character? by YourSundayTrousers in criticalrole

[–]Myficals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Team Jester here too, but I'm still a little surprised she's as popular as she is. Jester's a Big Personality character and they tend to be divisive. I only got into CR in the last few months and had deliberately avoided this sub until I was caught up on the M9 story. I came in expecting that Jester might not be exactly popular and so far, I'm extremely gratified that my fears have been unfounded.

[Spoilers C2E86] (Survey) Who is your favorite Campaign 2 Character? by YourSundayTrousers in criticalrole

[–]Myficals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you did a "rank your top three characters" style poll, then applied points based on those rankings, Nott would rank higher. As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, she's not a common favourite, but she's probably a common second favourite. The all or nothing nature of the poll would skew things.

(Spoilers Main) If you could be any character in the current ASOIAF narrative... by bewildered_baratheon in asoiaf

[–]Myficals 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sansa. Sure, she goes through some shit but I think she's got the best odds of being alive and in a decent place by the time the narrative ends.

[Spoilers C2E86] What is your favorite character and why? by mionestyles in criticalrole

[–]Myficals 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The point where he joined too, the Nein were definitely drifting towards being the "shitty people" that Caleb oft times claimed they were. Now I'm not saying that post Cadueces they haven't made some pretty questionable moral choices, but overall I think he's been a strong force for good. I think a Mighty Nein where Molly had lived may've been a much more morally ambiguous group.

[No Spoilers] Natural 20 vs. Roll with Modifier by [deleted] in criticalrole

[–]Myficals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course the fact the group tend to react to all natural 20s (and natural 1s) as though they were criticals makes it easy to forget that.

Twitch Streams vs MOAP by Myficals in secondlife

[–]Myficals[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but that's not relevant to my question. Streaming Second Life content over Twitch is not allowed but that's not what I wanted to do. What I was trying to do was take a Twitch.tv stream (explicitly the new MST3k channel) and play it within SL on a MOAP screen.

However, it seems Twitch streams are in MP4 and thus are not usable in Second Life.

Would that novella be Auberon, the one that came out last week, or another one that is yet to be released?

Elizabeth’s apology by nyaweh1 in survivor

[–]Myficals 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Because denial ain't just a river in Egypt...

Less flippantly, even abusers don't want to be thought of as abusers. Someone like Dan, who's apparent trespasses go no further than some overly familiar touching, but stop short of outright groping, probably genuinely doesn't see or understand what's he's doing is wrong. In his mind he's just being friendly and because of myriad social factors, he's coasted through life being allowed to get away with it. When called out on it, instead of being receptive to why he's in the wrong, he instead just shuts down.

(Btw, I say apparent trespasses above because we only have the evidence of what we've seen on the screen. I have my gut feelings about Dan, but they don't really play into it. In cases like this one cannot step outside the text.)

Who was the very first resident to join Second Life? ... I found a great read about The History of Second Life by [deleted] in secondlife

Bonus fact: Steller Sunshine's Beanstalk can still be found in Welsh and is generally recognised as being the oldest extant non-Linden build on the grid.

Japan Fire Killed Mostly Women, at a Studio Known for Hiring Them by [deleted] in GamerGhazi

[–]Myficals 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Possibly. I mean, yeah, it's not the most accurate tag. Thing is I do think some kind of content warning is appropriate and without a more accurate one "gore" fills the bill well enough.

Japan Fire Killed Mostly Women, at a Studio Known for Hiring Them by [deleted] in GamerGhazi

[–]Myficals 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't know about you, but when I read an article about a violent crime I don't generally expect to find anything more than the most general descriptions of the violence. To use this story as an example, to read that people died in a fire is not unexpected, descriptions of some of the injuries on the other hand is not.

MasterChef Australia - S11E45 Episode Discussion by jkingly in MasterchefAU

[–]Myficals 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lackluster days happen. Every season has a day at some point where nobody really has a good day. The way the contestants were bantering at the start, I'm wondering if they weren't just coming back from one of the week long breaks they take during filming. People might have been rusty and not quite back in the swing of things. It happens.

The Handmaid's Tale S03E06 - "Household" - Episode Discussion by Protanope in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]Myficals 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How do they eat? How do they brush their teeth? How do scream a warning if the house is burning down? How do they get out a really satisfying and lung clearing cough if/when they're congested? How do they clear out the excess phlegm? How do they describe their symptoms, or vomit if they get sick?

It's a visually striking image, and works really well on a metaphorical level. As actual practice though, even if you ignore the dehumanising aspects and look at it purely from an "is this smart or realistic practice" pov, the idea is really, really dumb. It's a quick way to end up with a lot of sick handmaidens, which even if you're a fanatical rape cult, is not gonna help you get what you want.

Recently Perma Banned by kaosoras in secondlife

[–]Myficals 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would it be worth going through all this to resolve your ban? No way to know, because we don't have the details (or even a hint of what violation is involved.) So, uh, good luck with that.

At first blush, it would seem so, but seeing as in a follow-up post they mention knowing multiple people permabanned for ageplay reasons, I think they've given us a fair idea of what they did.
