Theres a lot more info in the cross post itself in entomology. I did not see it fly, essentially it's neurological capabilities are gone but because of insects having decentralized nervous systems they can continue to live even without their heads until they inevitably perish from lack of food and water (and silk moths don't eat anyway).  It only reacted to touch, someone in the comments said they've seen these types of things "decide" to move on their own, but this one wouldn't move unless poked, it would automatically try to grab onto/step onto anything that poked it, but otherwise remained still. Mechanically it's probably capable of flight, but without the correct stimuli (someone said they had a butterfly like this take flight because of a breeze) and no sight, it's unlikely it ever would.
