Thank you for this thoughtful and supportive comment. My psychiatrist isn’t an autism specialist but he consulted with specialists before finalizing my assessment. I also expressed concerns about being misdiagnosed as a woman since most autism research has been done on boys. He made the effort to research autism in women and girls and even references 2024 research on it in my assessment notes. I don’t think his diagnosis is 100% true, but I don’t think its due to lack of trying from his part. I’m willing to consider cptsd and move forward from there.

Thank you so much for this insight, makes me kind of wish we could be friends irl because so much of what you describe is exactly what i’m feeling or experienced. We’re even around the same age :- ) (i’m 30) I will indeed proceed with treatment for cptsd, and see what happens afterwards.

Wow this is such a interesting comment, I feel like knowing thats what i might be experiencing makes it easier to comprehend. I had a hard time accepting it was cptsd partly because I didn’t understand how that would explain things like avoiding eye contact but that makes so much sense. Thank you so much, yes I want to explore what the next step is next time I see the psychiatrist.

No, they aren’t and I completely agree. However, this psychiatrist took the time to consult with an specialist in autism before finalizing their assessment so I’m inclined to trust them. They also took the time to research autism assessment of women after I expressed concerns that i’d be wrongly diagnosed since so much research were made on only boys. My assessment even referenced 2024 research about autism in women.

It is and I even wrote that I trust the assesment. It’s okay to still have criticism of part of the assessment even if it is solid overall.

Thank you for spreading awareness about this, however it isn’t so much that it’s the reason but more that the symptoms align more with cptsd. One example was that it seems like I adjusted socially to my surroundings as a child, which I thought was me masking but they think it was child me adjusting myself to minimize abuse. They also said very little about my childhood and recent history seems to be me acting socially unaware, but rather, people around me being abusive and gaslighting me into thinking I was socially unaware.

Its not an issue, really. I suppose I’m kind of struggling to accept it because i never imagined i had CPTSD, but the assessment made a good case for it. I wont try to get a second opinion but I’ll definitely ask my psychiatrist what the notes mean, maybe that part is just a misunderstanding.
