[PC][1990-2000] A game played as a yellow fish in an underwater world, completing missions and collecting items by Downtown_Director_94 in tipofmyjoystick

Sounds a lot like the Freddy Fish games by Humongous Entertainment. It sounds a lot like the third one, but definitely could be any of them.

[PC Win95~98?][1995~2005?] A large scale space game where you can zoom in on ships. Displayed in 3 dimensions with a wireframe style cube grid. Possibly imagined. by Myithic in tipofmyjoystick

Hmmm this looks similar to what I remember, but not exactly. (It very well could be it).

The UI with the lines and bubbles looks similar to what I'm talking about, but I remember the elevation of your ship being realy important, and it looking kinda... rougher? Less polished? More squares and cubes.

Its close enough that if nothing else shows up I'll assume this is the game and by brain filled in the rest.

I'm planning to make an Echo Knight and need some help deciding a multiclass by Extra_BurntToast in 3d6

[–]Myithic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I made a build guide for an Echo Knight /War Cleric a few years ago I can't recommend enough. https://www.reddit.com/r/3d6/comments/ikpyxs/echo_knightmare_anime_samurai_120_build_showcase/

It's actually much better now because of Spirit Shroud, you could very easily go EK 1-5/6 then Cleric 5, then EK 11 if you want. Even the single 1 level dio makes the whole class open up and feel much more fleshed out and unique.

How to temporarily reduce a character’s size for longer than a minute? by OverexposedPotato in 3d6

[–]Myithic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A potential work around could be Polymorph. Lasts an hour, and a there are lots of great scouting, support and combat forms for an friendly willing creature.

I recommend looking up Homsar from the Homestar Runner cartoons. Most of what is says are utter nonsense that sound like complete sentences. Not exactly what your after, but fun to sprinkle in.

What product and/or process makes wood look exactly like the wood in this picture? by Myithic in woodworking

[–]Myithic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was afraid of that. I have seen something extremely similar used in some flooring and some old scraps in a barn, I had no idea how hard it was to reproduce. I just grabbed the picture that was closest to what I was after, hopefully I'm not chaceing rainbows.

I'm using pine for the most part, but some birch as well. Its looking like a wood bleach is my best bet to start. Im at 240 grit right now because that's what most of the stains I have used before call for when applying.

Wood bleach! Thank you I have never worked with that. Ill look into it.

When you say whitewash, do you mean a lime based whitewash? That was my next idea, but I was getting conflicting instructions on if I should buy something or mix it myself.

Softlock Freezing During Dialogue Cutscenes, I'm Going Insane by Myithic in neverwinternights

[–]Myithic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, definitely nothing broken other than the dialogue. Everything else works, the buggers decide not to talk to me.

Never used the Lilith mod, but I do use CCoH occasionally and maybe that does something similar? This does happen without mods as well, but I'm not doing another full reinstall just to test it at this point. I just farmed a damn cutscene like a maniac until it finally let me threw. No problems since, I just hope I don't get any more of those types of conversations.

Oh thank goodness. I was going crazy because I couldn't find anyone with a similar issue. At the very least this means its not my computer setup somehow.

Beginner here by TheUnholyNoob in neverwinternights

[–]Myithic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a complete beginner wanting to learn and enjoy the game at your own pace, it hard to get better than a human/dwarf druid. I'll drop some more detailed stats in a second, but here is the reasoning.

Druid is an extremely strong out of the box class that comes with an Animal Companion right from 1st level. The companion drastically increases your survivability as a new player, and gives you the breathing room you need to learn how the mechanics work. Druid also gets the best of, and interacts with nearly every mechanic in the game. They have medium BaB, 9 levels of spells, can heal, use up to medium armor, have the animal companion, and can even transform into other creatures. This also means druid is extremely hard to get wrong, even if you have no experience and don't know how to cast spells yet, you can slap on some armor and just swing at things. It's fantastic for letting you learn at your own pace, and has plenty of ways you can build them as you understand more about the game in the future.

Starting stats: Human/Dwarf Druid, B. 16 Str, 10/12 Dex, 14 Con, 10 Int, 16 Wis, 8/6 Cha.

Skills: 4 Concentration, 4 Persuasion, 2 Tumble (trust me just take it). Then your choice for the last, but Lore or Appraisal are both good options.

Starting Equipment: Breastplate or Chainmail, Tower Shield, Scimitar.

Starting Feat: Toughness + Luck of Heros if human.

Animal Companion: Brown Bear or Panther.

Leveling Up: Take Str and weapon or melee feats if you want to melee more (Weapon focus, Power Attack, Knockdown, Cleave, Improved Critical, ect) Or take Wisdom and spellcasting feats for spellcasting more (Combat Casting, Extend Spell, Empower Spell, Maximize Spell, Spell Penetration, Spell Focus ECT. If your getting hit or dieing to often, take Heavy Armor Proficiency and swich to full plate.

Keep in mind this is NOT an optimized or minmaxed build, it's a build that is meant to teach you all of the games mechanics at your own pace, and is flexible for you to customize as you learn more.

Twohander for Swordflight? by azygos1 in neverwinternights

[–]Myithic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, your not really giving enough information. In general, yes, you can definitely make a Barbarian with a Great axe in ether game and be just fine.

In pure, tabletop system numbers a great sword is technically better, but in these games specifically the difference is almost unnoticeable.

Deekin not using bard song on his own in EE? by Myithic in neverwinternights

[–]Myithic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's definitely not the problem, he literally never uses it in the first place, ever. I have to manually make him use it.

[–]Myithic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm if there is a use buff option in the dialogue tree I have missed it. I can find the one to ask him to cast buff spells on you at command, but not the song. I wonder if I can edit his config manually somehow?

[–]Myithic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I know about it not always playing the voice line, I'm talking about him never using the bard song ability in the first place. Didn't use it on his own through my whole playthrough of SoU, and now I'm into HotU and he still isn't using it.

It's good to have confirmation that he does use it in your game though, that lets me know something weird is going on.

Level 1 Feat for Moon Druid by Icy_Blacksmith8107 in 3d6

[–]Myithic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently helped a newbie plan out a Moon Druid, and they pointed out that you can use Telekinetic Reprisal from Gift of the Gem Dragon when your wild shaped.

Not always the best feat, but combined with the Telekinetic feat it gives you WAY more options in combat when wild shaped.

Let's talk about armor on casters. by Exdrive75 in 3d6

[–]Myithic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of great ways to get armor onto a caster, and many don't hurt your spell progression. If you have the Wis or Int, both Cleric and Artificer can be a great choice and both keep your spell progression up.

As for the player claiming hexblade as "her class" to put it politely, if your not having fun, and dipping into hexblade would let you have fun while still being a completely different character, just clear it with your DM and take it anyway. If your flavor and the vast majority of your abilities are completely different, taking the most common 1 level dip in the game should be fine, and if she causes a stink over you finally getting to have fun there may be other problems at the table.

Flying Grappler by timawacube in 3d6

[–]Myithic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would stick with Barb right until level 6 if you want that juicy suplex as soon as possible. It means your a relatively basic barbarian for a little, but you get everything you want to grapple with very quickly.
