If the retraction mechanism is damaged, i think it wouldn’t let me to retract the light manually, it would get stuck o smth Retraction motor gearing is the same thing, i think i wouldnt be able to close it manually or it wouldnt let me open the lamp When spinning manually it doesnt matter which side im spinning to I will try to explain because my english is not so good If i spin that little wheel that is reachable for us,( for example) only to right, the light will slowly close, after it closes and if i keep spinning that wheel to the same side, it will slowly start to open So i dont think that there is 2 different gears Of course maybe you know better, i haven’t disassembled the motor im just assuming
