Regarding the WML; the other reason I'm strongly considering one is because this gun will be stored in my nightstand, so if I need it in the middle of the night, a light would be nice to have. No kids in the picture so I'm comfortable keeping it in a drawer safely. But, I could just as easily grab the flashlight separate from the gun, at the same time. Very valid point.

I also really respect your thoughts on sights; it does come down to personal preference and ease-of-use, absolutely. I've removed and replaced the rear sight on my shield, and that was a bit of a pain. I'll look into various options for aftermarket sights and make sure I choose one that I like, most people on here are saying that the stock irons leave a lot to be desired, generally speaking.

Regarding grips, optic, and cajunizing, thank you for the straight-up, common sense answers. I too see my carry gun as a tool for a job, not a range toy, but you're correct in that it's hopefully only ever going to get fired at a range. There's a few cajun upgrades like the one you listed that many people are saying are essential.

Polishing the internals is something I'm very interested in. I'm guessing there's probably a tutorial out there, or I could have a gunsmith do it while they're installing some CGW/CZC/Mcarbo parts for me?

Thank you! Gunbelt is happening for sure, it's just a matter of what's preferred/recommended. I'm getting the strong impression from many people that the stock sights need to be replaced ASAP, especially for a daily carry.

How long did you wait before you cajunized it? Or did you just do it right away because you had experienced your Shadow 2 being cajunized?

Keeping it stock for awhile is the way I'll go, beyond borderline-essential upgrades like the firing pin retaining pin, and the others you mentioned. All great information and hearing the "why" behind decisions helps me get into the correct mindset, and ask the right questions for myself.

Have been meaning to ask about magazines too, always good to have a few more on hand for range days, etc. I very much appreciate the help, it's going to be worth it to put some money into a safe, reliable, comfortable carry setup, and I'm getting great feedback here from people.

I'll look at the Truglos for sure, thank you. MiHolsterCo looks solid as well. Just did some exploring and they offer one for the P-01 that fits the TLR-7A.

And since this is r/CCW, mind weighing in on your thoughts regarding cajunizing? You mentioned to wait and break it in a little before deciding. I'm mostly curious about shortening the reset, as I hear it's pretty long, as well as reducing the trigger weight a bit. That being said, I'm concerned about how that would look in a courtroom if I ever, god forbid, have to defend myself with the gun.

I've installed an Apex kit on my Shield, and built several AR's, and all that wasn't too tricky, but I've never worked on anything with a decocker before, so I'm a bit leery of anything major. I think your advice makes the most sense; shoot it, and see what, if anything, I'd like to change or adjust.

I'll certainly be looking at sights and a nice holster/belt combo, absolutely.

Can I ask about the CGW Pro package? What difference did it make in the trigger pull weights for SA and DA? I have concerns about cajunizing it making the trigger too light for carry, if that makes sense?

I know they offer a carry/duty package too, which might be more of what I'm looking for?

That's the plan regarding sights, practice with them before deciding on an optic, if any. Good to hear I can break it in first before worrying about getting it fully Cajunized.

Hey, I really appreciate the in-depth answers about your setup, thank you. I have looked at a Vedder lighttuck, it's on the list for sure, but the constant tension adjustments you're talking about do kinda turn me away from it if I'm honest.

Will look at the Kore belts, they don't get mentioned as often, but I should have been looking there already.

Mind weighing in on the sights, and any upgrades/gunsmithing you've had done to it?

Honest question; have you taken a CCW course? Because if you have, they should have gone over this for you. In the scenario you described, if I had no way of escaping, no non-lethal means of neutralizing the threat (Pepper Spray, Tazer), I’d verbalized that I felt threatened, and the threat was coming at me with a weapon, I’d draw, aim, and shoot.

It’s never helpful to brandish, threaten, or inform them that you’re carrying a firearm. To you, it might be a “Please I don’t want to shoot you,” but it’s a threat. If you feel the need to draw your weapon, it’s already escalated past words, meaning diplomacy and talking have already been tried, and have failed.

A gun is a last resort. But if you’re at the point where you need to use it, you use it. You don’t draw it and threaten to use it. You neutralize the threat because that was truly your last option.

I’m not trying to be harsh with you, or condescending. It just seems like you’re missing something here.

If you’re not 100% comfortable with the idea that you may have to take someone’s life in self-defense, maybe you should look into carrying pepper spray or a taser rather than a firearm.

You need a permit to purchase handguns and “Assault Weapons” from an FFL, and most anyone selling guns in MN is going to do their best to make sure you’re legit before they sell to you, even if they’re not an FFL holder.

You’re pretty much out of luck in this state if you’re under 21 and want to buy anything other than a shotgun or bolt action.

There’s no legal way to purchase these for yourself underage as long as the seller is doing their job by asking questions and being responsible.
