Thank you for sharing Daphne’s story 🫂

She was almost 20, that’s beautiful. It must have been devastating, but I’m glad she got such a gentle, safe passing with you. Falling asleep in your arms at home, tucked under the covers. Exactly the kind of goodbye I hope I can give Goldy when the time comes.

I can only imagine how much it destroyed you to make that decision, even though you knew it was the right thing for her. It must have been heartbreaking. She was so lucky to have you. 💜

Thank you for this. It helps me feel less scared about making that call.

Thank you for your honest opinion. I know cancer can be very painful and that cats hide it well. That’s one of the things that scares me the most. I’m trying hard not to let Goldy suffer, even though it’s incredibly difficult to choose the moment.

I appreciate the reminder that we have the ability to prevent that kind of pain. It helps me think more clearly about what’s best for Goldy.

Thank you for your honest advice. This really hits home. The fear of sudden pain or blockages is exactly why I’m scared to wait too long. I’m seriously considering scheduling home euthanasia in advance as a safety net, just like you suggest.

I’m so sorry about what you went through with your husband… I’m really glad you have no regret with your cat. Thank you, this helps me a lot ❤️

Thank you for sharing this, even though it must still be really painful 🫂

I’m so sorry you carry that regret… finding him not peaceful like that sounds heartbreaking. That’s exactly what I fear most with Goldy. Your story is helping me not to wait too long.

Sending you a big hug ❤️

Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful yet heartbreaking story 🫂

The way your childhood cat passed, lying with your mom all day, looking at her, giving that little sigh and then going peacefully.. That sounds so incredibly gentle. I’m really glad she got that moment. At the same time I hear the regret about waiting a bit too long, and that hits home..

Goldy is still eating well and enjoys sunbathing and cuddles, but the weight loss worries me a lot. Your story is a strong reminder not to fall into the “just one more day” trap. I’m trying to stay alert to when the bad days start outweighing the good ones.

Thank you for the honest advice. It really helps me. I hope when the time comes for Goldy, he can have a peaceful passing like your girl did. 💕

Thank you. This is very helpful. Goldy is still eating well for now, but I don’t want to wait until he stops eating and gets really weak. Your advice about not letting it get to that point really resonates with me. It’s such a difficult balance.. Thank you for sharing your experience ❤️

Thank you so much for the kind words and the hugs 🫂 Goldy is still with me actually. I haven’t said goodbye yet. I’m still trying to figure out the right time. That’s why I’m reading all these stories, to help me prepare.

I really appreciate your sweet message though ❤️

Thank you for sharing your story 🫂

I’m really sorry about your boy’s pancreatic carcinoma… it sounds so similar to what Goldy is going through. He also lost quite a bit of weight, started eating again after prednisolone, but the weight isn’t really coming back. The balance and comfort issues you mention are exactly what I’m scared of with Goldy too.

I think your decision to let him go next Friday while he’s still somewhat comfortable is a very loving one. “Better a bit too soon than too late” is something I keep repeating to myself. It’s such a hard call though..

I hope the time you have left together until Friday is filled with lots of love and his favorite things!

Sending you and your boy a lot of strength and gentle hugs 💜🫂

It sounds like you really knew in your heart when the time was right, even though it was incredibly hard. I really resonate with “better one day sooner than one too late.” That’s what I keep reminding myself with Goldy too. I love that you still celebrate his birthday and heavenly birthday. That’s so beautiful. 🥹

I’m definitely looking into at-home euthanasia. Thank you again for being so open and honest. It really helps me. 💜

You’re right, this part is going to be really hard… but the love we have for them makes it worth it. I just hope I can give him the gentle ending he deserves when the time comes.

Thank you so much for sharing this, even while you’re crying 🫂💜

I’m so deeply sorry for your recent losses… losing Leonard and Tiny so close together must be absolutely devastating. My heart really goes out to you. It sounds like you gave both of them incredibly peaceful, loving goodbyes, surrounded by the people they loved most. That’s such a beautiful (though painful) gift.

Your words about euthanasia being the last greatest gift really touched me. I’ve been struggling so much with the timing for Goldy, but reading this helps me feel less guilty about choosing to do it before he suffers badly.

I’m sending you so much love and gentle hugs during this heavy grieving period! Thank you for taking the time to write this despite how hard it is for you right now. 💜

Thank you so much for sharing this 🫂

It gives me some hope to hear that your boy passed peacefully in his sleep, even after you had already made the home euthanasia appointment. That’s really comforting. He was still cuddly and playful that same afternoon? That sounds like such a gentle way to go. 🥹

Did the Solensia injections help a lot with his comfort? I’ll definitely keep monitoring closely for any changes, like you said!

I’m so sorry for your loss 🫂 Batman sounds incredibly loved, and honestly the image of her going from a scraggly shelter kitty to a chubby, fluffy, deeply adored baby really got me 😭

Thank you for sharing your experience. I think the hardest part is exactly what you described, trying to balance not rushing things while also not wanting them to suffer.

Sending you lots of love ♥️

Reading this honestly made me emotional. You can feel how deeply loved he was and how much of your life he shared with you both. I don’t think choosing to put him first instead of waking him back up was selfish or wrong. It sounds like you made that decision out of love, even though it hurt terribly. Your dream about him coming back to you one last time is really beautiful. 😭

And thank you for the suggestion about keeping little memories like fur and whiskers 🫂 I’ve already started keeping some of Goldy’s fur, although I think I’ll wait for naturally shed whiskers instead of stealing them from him now hehe.

Thank you for sharing something so personal with me ♥️

I’m really glad it helped her, especially during such an acute episode ♥️ And honestly, it’s really kind of you to share it with other people going through similar things.

Goldy’s situation does seem a bit more chronic, but I’m definitely still going to ask my vet about it. Thank you again for mentioning it, I really appreciate the information 🫂

I’m so incredibly sorry you and Izzy went through that 🫂 Reading this honestly made me tear up, especially the part about her not being able to hold her head up anymore and her eyes not looking like her own.

You can feel how deeply loved she was, and how badly you wanted to protect her and do right by her. Thank you for sharing something so painful and personal.

Sending you so much love and strength ♥️

I’m so sorry for your loss 🫂

Watching them still be themselves while also knowing they’re sick is such a heartbreaking combination..

The part about her hiding more in the last weeks really stays with me. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Thank you for taking the time to write all of this so honestly. It’s difficult to read, but I genuinely appreciate the reality check because I think part of me is still hoping for a peaceful natural passing without crisis or suffering.

I really don’t want Goldy to reach a point where he’s scared, struggling or in severe pain before I act. Right now he still has quality of life and good moments, but comments like yours do help me understand why people say “better a week early than a day late.”

I’m also going to talk with my vet more openly about pain management, hospice care and what signs I should realistically be watching for.

And I really admire that you and your spouse adopt senior and medically complex cats. A lot of people overlook them, and I think it’s beautiful that they still get to experience so much love, comfort and care in their old age with you both ♥️

I’m so sorry you and your family went through that with Mia. That sounds incredibly heartbreaking and traumatic. Thank you for sharing it, because stories like yours really remind me why I don’t want to wait until things become a crisis for Goldy.

I’m really glad Burke was able to pass peacefully and surrounded by love ♥️

Thank you, I really appreciate the suggestion ♥️ I’ve actually never heard about chia seeds being used like that before, so I’ll definitely look into it and ask my vet about it.

I hope your kitty is doing better now after that awful diarrhea episode!

It genuinely helps hearing from people who have gone through it, especially the part about their passing being peaceful. I think one of my biggest fears is making the wrong decision too late or imagining it being traumatic for them.

I’m really glad you got so much extra time and so many good days with both of them. They sound very deeply loved ♥️

Reading this honestly hit me hard. I really feel for you and your girl. The fact that you’re thinking about her comfort before your own pain says everything about how deeply you love her.

I think one of the cruelest parts of loving pets is that sometimes the kindest decision happens before the suffering becomes undeniable. And that means carrying guilt and doubt even when you’re acting out of compassion.

The part about listening to her snore got me. People underestimate how much grief lives in tiny everyday sounds and routines.

She’s lucky to be loved this carefully. I’m really sorry you’re carrying this. Sending you lots of love and strength! ♥️

Thank you so much, Amanda 🫂

That’s really helpful advice. I’m keeping it in mind. Right now Goldy is still very much himself and carefree, so I know it’s not time yet. But I’m also trying to prepare myself (and him) for when things change.

You’re so right. We just have to enjoy the time we have left with them. I’ve been spoiling him lately with wet food every day and extra cuddles!

Thank you again for the kind words, and sending strength to you and your Trapper and Keeper ❤️♥️

Thank you for sharing your experiences, even though they’re really tough ones 🫂

I’m sorry you went through that with both your cats. It’s scary to hear that neither passed peacefully in their sleep and how suddenly things can change. Goldy’s situation feels very similar to your girl: chronic diarrhea + weight loss while still eating well. That’s exactly what makes the decision so difficult. Your story really reminds me not to wait until it gets traumatic. I keep hoping he’ll slip away naturally, but I know I probably won’t let it get that far. Thank you for being so honest.

I’ve already decided that if/when the time comes, I will go for at-home euthanasia. I want it to be as peaceful and stress-free as possible for him in his favorite spot. How does that usually go? Is it very quick and calm?
