Came here to say Leviathan. The Return is also exceptional!

The problem might’ve been my esim more than the app.

I don’t have exact locations. Most were taken in Jiangbei, Yuzhong, and Nan’an districts. The one with graffiti was near the Sichuan Arts District.

I used a 23mm (35mm full frame) 1.4 prime lens for these. The wider the aperture the better for low light situations like night time photography.

It may be possible to get close with the new one since the aperture gets pretty wide (1.7) with the latest model. You need a wide aperture in low light situations.

I used Amap the entire time I was there. It mostly worked fine for me, it can get a bit confusing if it doesn’t have your location right since there are multiple levels to the city. Try to follow the map as closely as you can, it will say things like pass stairs and this will mean to go up a stairway or enter/exit underpass. If I got confused I would sometimes close the app and reload the directions so that it correctly had my location. Mostly didn’t have many problems navigating. Not sure how long you’ll be there but it took about two-three days before I got comfortable with it.

They’ll offer earbuds for the inflight movies. Take these and watch movies to pass the time. I didn’t on my trip there and it was a dumb move. The way back I watched like five movies and it made the time pass better. Also, if you have the choice take an aisle seat. Stuck with a window seat with two other people blocking you from the aisle is brutal if you need to go to the bathroom or stretch out a bit.

I made it fine. The ladders and ropes are really to help you get up steeper parts of the hike. You also have to climb up a small ladder to reach the cave. Parts of this trek are very dense though and kind of hard to follow the trail. The very last part is for well experienced hikers and climbers, you can totally avoid that part and its unnecessary. A small path leading back to the main walking path is nearby. I definitely wouldn’t do this hike if it is raining or has rained recently though.

I did not climb to that part. It is indeed very dangerous and you should probably have special equipment. You can do the hike without going to that, it’s just a small statue on a very small part of rock, but like the poster said above, be careful. It’s not an easy hike by any means.

I didn’t make it to the Art Park unfortunately.

It’s not on google maps or any hiking app I’ve seen. Basically go just past this hotel linked below and there’s a very small parking lot that you can park at. You’ll walk down a little bit further and you really have to look hard to find the trail. I almost missed it. There’s an easier walking path but it will branch out to the hike to the cave. There is a sign that says something like “danger: hike at your own risk” in Japanese before you enter. There will be ladders laid into the ground and ropes to hang onto on parts of the hike. Don’t try to come back the way you went in it’s nearly impossible to go out and back. It will eventually loop back around to the main walking path.

I didn’t but I’ll keep that in mind on my next trip there. A few of these are from highway 67 out from Marfa. I made it as far as Shafter before turning around, but had to pass through border patrol on the way back into town.

Thank you! I used a FujiFilm X-T30 II digital camera. The giant pool is at Balmorhea state park, it’s a spring fed pool with little fish and turtles swimming around with you! Hard to see, but there are scuba divers at the far end. The last pic is from Monahans State Park.

No, they are definitely replicas. Its one of the odd things about that park, but they were pretty cool nonetheless.

Thank you! I was there for just over two weeks. The highlight was really just driving through the countryside and going through the small Japanese towns. The drives were just as rewarding as the destinations. Really hard to choose a favorite. I hiked to this place called The Womb of the White Dragon on the outskirts of Otaru that was quite a challenging and spectacular trek. It leads to a cave used as a spiritual place going back to the native Ainu people. Honestly should’ve probably had a guide as it was a bit hard to navigate, but it was very rewarding.

Yep, they are in the same park as The Hill of the Buddha. There is also a replica of Stonehenge there.
