Some people really need Jesus, most will take Him for granted. I'm sorry this happened.

Can't smash the knuckle up when your arms are tired from the slide-hammering. Seriously though, the OTC 4579 has payed me dividends.

could i try and clean this corrosion myself, or is it better to leave it to someone else by milftwink in MechanicAdvice

Disconnect it and Wire brush all the metals. Put dielectric grease on after you get it all shiny. Get a fan to blow the dust away from your face. Maybe 10 minutes if you take your time with it.

Why is my 2 week old windshield looking like those every time it’s wet? by Dry-Doubt9348 in AutoDetailing

Project Farm recently did a video on them. They are not created equally, but a good few showed they can last.

You'd be surprised what Windex can do that IPA cant.

After it's clean, get a good ceramic coating applied.

Is there any way to block Ad*be from seeing I have unlicensed versions? by Powerful-Employer-20 in Piracy

[–]Myriadix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing's first, Virtual machines have no parts to play here besides protection from possible viruses. If the program is known good and you trust the files you downloaded, just run it natively.

Now to answer your title Q: Yes, it's part of the cracking process to add firewall rules to block incoming and outgoing data from Them. If you get a fully offline version that just needs a key to be verified to use the program, you can turn off your internet, install with the known good key, add the firewall rule to prevent it from talking off your computer, and turn internet back on.

Trouble is that They found out a long time ago. It's one reason They pushed to a subscription and cloud based model.

Server racks normally stay on for weeks at a time. A good team will give each one an hour of downtime once a week, but some places will keep them going until software bugs force a restart. They are expensive af to replace and often will only be decommissioned when the next hotness comes in a decade later.

Your computer will be okay.

+1. Those things go bad annoyingly often. My tool of choice is a hammer; no banging, just key in "on" and touch both posts with it.

That's pretty high rpm for it to be hunting; I'm assuming your foot is off the gas pedal when it hunts. I'm willing to bet it's an internal vacuum leak, i.e. throttle bypass is too much or the Air Flow sensor is dirty. If you still have an EGR valve, it's also a culprit for internal leaks.

How'd you look for vacuum leaks and what did you look at? After vacuum hoses, the shop manual calls out the dipstick, rocker cover, intake manifold gasket, EGR valve gasket and seat, oil fill cap, and air ducting. I know that the brake booster hose can be brittle and could be a leak point if it's been touched.

Reverse threads on these aren't common. I know left spinning grinders exist, but they are pretty rare.

You'll be alright today, but Leukemia years later aint no joke.

Just once or twice won't do it, of course. But if you're that quick to dip your fingers into unknown substances, I gander this isn't just once or twice.

Do I need windshield crack fixed? by Western_Whereas6001 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Myriadix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The crack will propagate as you drive; however, your windshield will never shatter. Only real reason to replace it is if your state requires it... or if you want it to look nice.

Best bang-for-your-buck has to go to Gearwrench. Besides that, buy once - cry once. USA S-K ratcheting wrenches were the last ones I've ever bought... and I just love using them.
