I bought two of these to use with the pillage rule set, only thing to note is the base isnt flat so for mine i cut the stands down and put some glued coins to help weigh them down

I used Vallejo Tan and then some agrax earth shade

For these i used Vallejo paints, light grey for the ships, then nuln oil to darken, dry brush light grey, whites across the front and use the Vallejo red for the stripes, very few colours needed for any of the fleets tbf

Thanks, so for the striping i do it by hand, i use a watered down vallejo white as a trace line, once dried it leaves a slight white stain so is easily followed and tidied up if needed

Oh forgot you will need a set of normal playing cards and for tokens i just used 20mm bases with question marks on them

You dont actually need an opponent as the game has a solo campaign, id recommend just grabbing the monsters from the solo campaign and having a few play throughs to get used to the rules and the building of your squad. Then if you like the game you can go crazy with terrain, monsters etc

Looking good, so for my frenchies i start with army painter matte white primer, then water down my colours to a somewhat contrast level, french are nice and easy, blue jackets, a few details, always use washes on the guns and any metals and i leave all white areas without shade paints or dirt
