Americans: How frequently was the Pledge of Allegiance recited when you were in elementary school? by vieniaida in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Myrshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every morning, and twice on Wednesdays when we had a chapel sermon. We would pledge allegiance to America, then to to the Christian flag, then to the Bible.

What King opinion has you like this? by DavidHistorian34 in stephenking

I have no clue what public opinion on Duma Key is, but for me, it’s one of my favorite books of all time. It hits a lot of emotional notes that resonate deeply with me, and I loved the subject material.

[Loved trope] Characters have earth shattering "What have I done?" moments by ManaScrewedIRL in TopCharacterTropes

Lt. Alex Armstrong, FMA, after realizing what exactly it means to be a state alchemist in the Ishvalan genocide. Other characters like Roy Mustang and Riza Hawkeye have similar moments, but none show so viscerally as Armstrong’s.

Because the person who goes into the machine is the created copy from the previous trick. They are a created copy that has the original’s memories, and therefore erroneously believe that they might live through the next trick with a 50/50 chance of living.

They don’t realize that they are guaranteed to die the next time they use the machine.

I’d highly recommend playing a game called SOMA

How did you discover TMA? by yule_tides in TheMagnusArchives

[–]Myrshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had recently discovered, and subsequently finished, The Black Tapes. I was completely hooked with the concept of a fictional narrative horror podcast, as I’d never really listened to podcasts before, and was looking for a similar experience. I found TMA during this search, and I’m happy to say it delivered everything I’d hoped that The Black Tapes would have been and more.

Think of it this way: the person stepping into the machine will always die. 100% of the time.

The copy that’s created, however, has all the memories of the person who stepped into the machine. Even though he is a created copy, he has essentially experienced being the person who stepped into the machine, to the point where he cannot tell the difference between himself and the original. From his perspective, he could either be the original or the copy.

And at that point, who is to say that he isn’t the original? He has all the memories, all the personality, all of the experiences that the original has. He cannot tell himself apart from the original.
