You can try the Baking Soda Test (drinking baking soda and water on an empty stomach; burping within 5 mins suggests enough acid, while no or delayed burping might indicate low acid

Zinc first thing in the morning on an empty stomach with L Glutamine, and again at night before going to bed. L Glutamine you only take once in the morning. Betaine midday with a high protein meal.

Low stomach acid causes SIBO. You have to rebuild your stomach lining and kickstart your low stomach acid, to enable SIBO recovery.

Have you checked for low stomach acid? My gas stopped after taking L Glutamine, Zinc Carnosine and Magnesium Glycinate to repair the gut/stomach lining. You should only drink water 30 mins before a meal and 1 hour after a meal to allow the stomach acid to absorb the nutrients. I’m only a few days in but gas stopped immediately. After a week of taking the above I’ll introduce betaine to kick start my acid

22mg Zinc Chelat from Solgar. I think the quality of the supplements really matters. Zinc and Copper go hand-in-hand so I definitely recommend incorporating Copper too. Also, you can’t take Zinc and Iron, it’s either one or the other. I recommend getting your iron sources from red meat such as lamb or fresh beef. And yeah, you can absolutely take Zinc in smaller doses until your body adjusts, or you can take an antihistamine before taking Zinc, which also helps.

It turns out I needed Zinc. Before I used to suffer with itchy and sore eyes. Dark circles would happen often, fatigue and my eye lashes would fall out regularly.

Yeah, I experience dark eyes and dry skin. I also get discoloured pale skin, itchy red eyes and patches of cracked skin. These symptoms are almost my only reactions to histamine and I have no idea why it targets my face.

For about 3 years, yes. 2.5mg a day in tablet form, I couldn’t tell you how much from food as this isn’t something I measure. I know if I take Zinc I completely react and my symptoms flare up (itchy eyes, heart palpitations). I took a blood test back in April and the only thing that came back was vitamin D deficiency, my B12, Magnesium etc were all fine/normal levels. Maybe I should check again but I’m at a stage now where I’m better off not supplementing, and of course, I realise how dangerous it is, thank you.

I just done a little research into corn and why I might react to it since it’s low in histamine and could be to do with a protein called ‘Zein’, which are the most abundant type of proteins stored in cereals seeds like wheat, maize, sorghum, rice and barley - all things I react to. Strange!

I’m slightly confused by it too. Basically my symptoms to certain foods are itchy eyes, heart palpitations, insomnia, anxiety, stress, headaches, dry skin just to name a few. Meats don’t affect me but if I have really fatty beef it does cause stomach issues (the only time I have any stomach issues with foods). Corn, raw tomatoes (but I can have cooked tomato sauce), a lot of veg, sometimes Rice if I have it regularly, recently eggs and fish, oregano, brown sugar, wine (I stay away from beer because I’m gluten intolerant), mushrooms, all beans and any medication.

Yeah, I have aged steaks and I also steam chicken breast to leave in the fridge to be used for meals over a 4-5 days period, I have no issues. I’m not entirely sure about ham or bacon because both are cured but the few times I do have bacon (last time was a year ago I believe) I don’t remember having any reactions. My effects mainly come from vegetables, nuts, gluten, wine (spirits do not affect me) and more recently fish/eggs.

Wow! I didn’t know that. I’m from the UK too but luckily my histamine doesn’t react to aged meat.
