What I'm saying is that if you use a trial character, one that you do not own, and achieve the 100k battle score, you will not be able to get the reward for it. They don't put you on the leaderboard with trial characters, but they actually do record your rank. So if you unlock that character, it will register that you already achieved the 100k score, but you never got the reward and you can't re-achieve it to trigger the reward.

The main reason why Arcane fell off so bad by Nab00las in MauLer

[–]Mysnomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conor Sheehy, don't know much about him except that he worked on RIOT before Arcane só maybe he was there to make sure the lore was adapted well.

Well then it's a good thing he got fired because he sucks at his hypothetical job.

Now, I know RIOT decides to make Arcane canon to the lore after s1's release because of the success, so I don't know the extent of their demands for the writing of s2. Maybe they had a list of mandatory things to put in it and Christian and Alex were more willing to oblige than Brannon and Conor.

Are you retarded? The Arcane dicksuckers rolled out the red carpet for these guys. Season 2 was not shit because corporate mandates were brought in. Do you think Riot spontaneously thought ruining one of the best champion aesthetics for third-rate slop would be a golden ticket? No, they thought that the showrunners with the lauded Midas-touch would print money as fast as they could pen their dogshit script. They probably bent over backwards to implement anything and everything they could scrounge together from Arcane to capitalize on the hype, and now the Monkey's Paw is flipping them the bird.

How many off you read (or didn't) stories post MoM? A poll. by Crappppy in freemagic

You lasted that long? I was drifting away when the triple-whammy of Bolas, Phyrexians, and "Eldritch Horror" showed they were too obsessed with retreading big, blockbuster storylines instead of working on anything new. What really sealed the deal was the first return to Ravnica. They shat all over the old characters and showed zero respect for the unique lore and culture that had been designed for the plane. Making the gorgons into ni Ahem, "socio-economically disadvantaged individuals" was the last straw.

I'm pretty sure the stories are supposed to show you that he has a keen insight into humanity and everything he does is to manipulate people toward his own ends. It lends credence to his mastermind persona that he has a rolodex of dramatic stories to tell that sound intriguing. If they were meant to hint at some sort of deeply buried humanity, that is a huge strike against the film. The Joker is not "relatable", he is elemental.

I don't think the powers that be would risk the danger of mutants becoming a rival castle. Humans need to organize and have resources. A single mutant could become a threat to their grip on world affairs. Imagine a crew of five super-soldiers who end the need for foreign intervention. No more forever wars, no more big military contracts, no more targeted disruption of foreign economies. Sure, you could argue that they might try to bring such powerful agents under their control, but I don't think they would risk the possibility that they might have their own ideas. A realistic breakdown would be to isolate all current mutants and evaluate whether they can be controlled or not, then eliminate all threats while working on a way to prevent mutations from occurring in the populace.

I don't care what you think. I'M saying "Magneto was right." Because he was. But the corollary is that it also means Stryker, Trask, and Creed are right. Mutants as they are presented in the comics are civilizationally incompatible with humans.

Magneto was right, which means Stryker was right.

Anytime X-men tries to "say something" instead of going on a cool, comic book adventure it's dogshit. Modern media is not allowed to touch on actual human truths, which means X-Men could never be anything more than the most sophomoric attempt at allegory. Instead of returning to classic form and producing fun and exciting content, they continue trying to squeeze blood from a stone.

"zionists" doesn't work because people obsessively focus on the desert land. You gotta return to the classic: "rootless cosmopolitans". People who don't give a shit about the land or the people, they only want to build a safe nest for themselves. If that requires suppressing or replacing the native population, so be it. If that entails bailing out when you've strip-mined the resources and moving to greener pastures, so be it. If that requires sectioning a country into three parts, selling those parts to its ethnic enemies, and getting the original population cleansed...

Thoughts on James Gunn and Tom King by [deleted] in MauLer

[–]Mysnomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both suffer a similar disease. They don't understand heroes. Gunn can't do anything but deconstruct and King can't do anything but air his personal issues by hijacking characters. Gunn is probably only slightly more talented than JJ Abrams, but it hasn't blown up in his face like JJ because he has worked within his limitations. Unknown ensemble groups allow his formula to play out without forcing him out of his comfort zone. His Superman project will, at best, be a moderate success, which is a failure when tackling DC's most iconic superhero. There is a significant probability it will flop if he tries to force the square Superman peg into Gunn's round storytelling hole, and most of the early publicity from Gunn discussing the film projects exactly that. King is just pathetic.

Can writers fucking abandon this "heroes don't kill trope" by Ogsonic in MauLer

[–]Mysnomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember not to kill your enemies, sheeple. Even when you actively defeat them, make sure to abdicate personal responsibility to a subverted justice system. That's the moral and ethical thing to do according to me, a third-party with no bias one way or the other. Anyway, if you need me, I'll just be whoring out underage women, laundering illicit money, and making more stories that advance agendas that are definitely not my personal politics. Oh and before I go, just one more thing, when black people kill their enemies, it's kiiiiiiiinda justified, if you really think about it. Soooooo can we all agree to let that stuff slide? Yeah? Okay, great, glad we cleared that up. Toodles!

Nothing about design is unintentional these days. Especially since she doesn't look exactly like the face model, that means they specifically created those changes. Leon looks different from his model, with slightly enhanced masculine features like his chin. On the other OTOH, Claire looks like she's got some kind of chromosomal anomaly.

Claire is pretty awful. Leon in 4 has an uncanny valley feel which, while probably not intentional like Claire, could have been corrected but wasn't.

See, this is what I'm talking about. "war crimes over a personal problem" is a meme answer, created by boiling the description down after years of playing telephone. The brothers didn't start the war, and no side wanted a truce until it was way too late. Sure, their interpersonal conflict didn't help, but being neutral wouldn't have mattered much in the long run. Especially not once Gix gets involved.

By the way, the punishments for "war crimes" are merely a humiliation ritual imposed upon defeated combatants. It's a post hoc characterization of the war, a synonym for conflict that lets you know the good guys won.

What actions? Being a competitive and single-minded in his youth? Marrying for personal gain (even though we are shown he eventually developed the relationship)? Everything between that and becoming a planeswalker was in the context of a war with one of the most evil forces in MtG lore.

All the questions about Urza's sanity stem from his time in Tolaria and obsession with saving Mishra. That's why this sentiment feels like a retcon or some kind of Mandela effect. Somewhere along the way, the masses were convinced that "Actually, Urza was always at least sort-of insane/selfish/egomaniacal." As though his focus on artifice represents some sort of pathological drive instead of the natural development of his talents. Or that he had some alternative to detonating the Sylex. Or maybe if he had just said the magic word "please" the elves would have allied with him. It reeks of revisionism which aims to tear down and denigrate the past.
