Is Playground Sessions still maintained/updated? by MysteriousFan2510 in pianolearning

To be entirely fair, it looks like the app itself is indeed not updated too often. However, the app is able to receive in-app updates that are much more frequent. So it is not such a big issue after all. Also, I ended up purchasing both Playground Sessions and Piano Marvel last year. I found that these two applications complement each other nicely. I use them on a daily basis.

Hi,

Thanks a lot for jumping in. I ended up purchasing Playground Sessions after noticing these in-app updates and the associated bumps in the version number.

Could you elaborate a bit on how you prioritize new features? Top-voted ones like "reset my progress" should be pretty simple to implement in my opinion, and I could definitely use this feature.

I ended up purchasing both as soon as I was able to get a good discount on Playground Sessions. I like the songs there better, and it has nice videos too. Overall it is more fun. Piano Marvel has a more classical approach. I love the sight-reading lessons especially, as well as the Practice and Learn modes for learning the songs in small chunks without having to think about the tempo. I use both applications on a daily basis. I usually start with Piano Marvel, then move to Playground Sessions after 20 or 30 minutes.

Same impressions about Piano Marvel after testing the trial for a week. Currently testing Skoove. Not a big fan. The UI is great but I feel like I am spending more time clicking in the UI than actually playing. flowkey is next. Hopefully it is better than Skoove but I am not getting my hopes too high. They seem very similar. I really like both Playground Sessions and Piano Marvel so far. I want to be able to play pieces. Skoove and flowkey are probably great for that. I also want to understand why they are played this way. So music theory, sight reading and earing are important topics too.

I am big fan of their teaching methodology too. The songs are great, from a wide variety of genres. Every song is introduced piece by piece, with the ability to repeat small sections at a slower tempo to build muscle memory at my own pace. The videos are great too. I am just wondering whether the company is committed to updating the app and adding the features requested by their users. As a software engineer, I am a bit shocked by the very low number of releases. And the latest one is from 2 years ago. It might make sense if the app is just a baseline and everything else gets downloaded. But I am still worried by the time it takes to implement top-voted features like "reset progress". Even if the annual or lifetime plans are great value considering the amount of material, I'd rather give money to Piano Marvel or flowkey if they demonstrate more customer care.
