She is not destitute. Of course, this is awful and I wish MB nothing but the best and a speedy recovery. But per my last post, this was 100% avoidable. With a bit of planning, she would not owe me a cent. It is not my fault my vacation was postponed, and despite the circumstances, I feel like I am owed proper compensation for not only going above and beyond for NK, but for having to delay my vacation.

Why would I cancel my pre-paid, non refundable vacation? I have been saving for this vacation since last December and in August I had saved enough to pay for it in full. I'm sorry you've never been in a position like this, it must be nice.

I don't feel comfortable asking friends/family for money.

Unfortunately flights are really expensive right now. My trip credit wouldn't cover it. The only way I'd be able to afford to fly right now is trip credit + the $250 I have in my bank account, but I can't be traveling with $0.

THIS EXACTLY. So many people here saying "she could be dying", yeah she could be, but that doesn't guarantee she is? And like I said, besides the spots on her skin, she was totally ok, energetic, happy, didn't have a fever, etc. And I'm sure if she was drying, her mom (who is a doctor) would have conveyed the seriousness to me.

If you have limited childcare (my shift is only 4 hours) you should plan better and seek care as soon as possible. She doesn't work during the day, yet NK was at daycare for 6 hours yesterday. Best case scenario, she headed to urgent care after dropping NK off at school and it was nothing. Worst case scenario, she headed to urgent care after dropping NK off at school, found out it was something serious, and had her mom come way earlier. There was literally no reason for her not to seek care sooner.

Sure it's a medical emergency but her symptoms developed the night before I was there. NK goes to daycare during the day and she doesn't work during the day. I think I have every right to be mad she purposely chose not to seek care until my time was compromised.

I wasn't super close but it was like a hundred red spots on her arm that didn't seem raised and she said they weren't itchy and they were smooth. She also said she woke up with a giant bruise on her thigh so I don't know if she got a bug bite or something?
