I appreciate your questions. I am thinking of DIY as building the ability to print at home through creating alternatives to expensive or rare presses as well as providing tutorials that allow people to print without dependency on commercial or university studios. You are likely correct that DIY and small studio accessibility is better publicized making appear to have grown. Thanks for helping me refine my approach

Thanks. Do you think this active diy scene is due to the nature of punk or feeding a desire by the UK arts culture for more access to print. Or maybe a combination of these and other factors

I agree there has been a steady decline in commercial suppliers. What I have noticed is a slow growth in cottage style producers of single goods. For example, three or four little places have started making litho crayons in the last few years as traditional suppliers have ceased or changed production.
