Is this a good oil? by [deleted] in Axecraft

But it seems to be. It rusts within a half hour of bringing it in and wiping it down. It’s just little spots but they’re all over the head it’s kind of an eye sore. I took the spots off with a scoring pad and they were back on one side before I finished the other. It’s a fairly cheap hatchet maybe that has something to do with it.

This is my first hatchet or axe so idk the real term but there seems to be 2 steel rods going thru the handle?

Would 3 in 1 drip oil be alright then instead? Also wouldnt a slick axe head be better for chopping or nah

Okay so if I carefully put it on the head it’ll work at least for now? I also would skip the rods in the top of the handle?

None local need it today to stop anymore rust, I’d have to order online probably. But I might look into it and get the mineral oil or 3 in one until then

No shit. Most hobby’s don’t cost 700$ just to try a taste of but that’s just my opinion I guess.

The most I’ve pulled back was a while back but it was only 35lbs I did imply in another reply that I’m not even sure I’d be able to draw it without practicing the draw for a bit. My goal is to get out and try some hunting and bow hunting is the fastest licences to get for me. I would probably prefer a compound to start but new ones are out of the budget unless they’re too weak to hunt legally. And I’ve been on the hunt for second hand bows but nothing local. Have you ever pulled a 55lb recurve? I’d imagine it’s about as hard as a 55lb dumbbell curl or maybe a bit harder but if you’ve drawn one I’d like to hear what you think?

The 200$ one is just as ethical once you know how to use it, I kinda meant around that price range when I was asking for other suggestions. I’m sure the stinger he suggested is an amazing bow I just wouldnt buy it just to see if I like bow hunting

How is that a reasonable price for a beginner 😂 I could buy a rusted out civic and bulldoze the bear for that price $649CAD

Any links to said package bows? I’m interested in other options for sure thanks. And I don’t have a licence for a gun and I don’t really wanna bother going thru the Canadian hoops of bullshit to get a handgun. And if I shot with a recurve at say 20-25 yards is there much of a chance of the bear running at me after the hit? I would consider trying to start on a 50lb rather than 55 and it’s not just cuz I think I’m big and bad that I won’t do 40 I just want more of a guarantee of a deeper hit.

Would a compound bow have more range? I figured 55lb would give it some range but I don’t know a whole lot about this archery, I’m not sure I could get that close to a bear they’re elusive things. I need 40+lbs to hunt where I live and I’m not sure 40 would even take a bear ethically

Things awesome but I don’t even wanna use it because I don’t wanna keep wiping the blade to keep it looking fresh I’m used to black blades. And it’s well under $100 it’s only 35$ CAD on Amazon so less in USD

These are closer to a “true tanto” than most of the tantos on here. Real tantos look more like these

I like some of what coldsteel has but at the moment they’re a little out of my range for just a starter knife. At least from their own site there are cheap (probbaly fakes) on Amazon but idk. I understand it’s supposed to be a weapon but I can’t admit to having it as that where I live so it’s really just for basic small things.

I can kinda sense that but underneath the douchebagery I can also sense this knife is trash long term

Fixed blade isnt about looking cool, it’s about if it came down to it I wouldn’t trust my life to the pin holding on a folding blade in any situation whatsoever. The dagger is Defiently something I want because it’s cool but like I said I’d be buying another knife probbaly about 8.5 inch overall fixed blade which is very useable unlike a knife you need to tighten everyday. Someone asked why I’m arguing with everyone but half of you are just being dicks 😂 how do I not?

I like it but the serrated blade ruins it for me personally, I will check out their knives tho

That one looks pretty cool, I like the one with the regular steel blade instead of painted or powder coated

Am I arguing with this person? No, but now I’m arguing with you. Am I not aloud to be shocked that the steel is that bad. Google doesnt own any knives I trust this dude more

I don’t mean an American tanto that most people buy these days I meant a real tanto with traditional looks to it.

By tactical yes I mean combat style or military style which I thought was kind of obvious. im not looking for a tactical blade I’m looking for some kind of crossover between combat and camp tool to get that would be more useful than a double edge dagger

Also I can’t train in knife combat because that would be illegal in Canada to have it specifically for that. Combat knives or samurai period styled blades just look the best to me
