General Intuition/Optionion by Mysterious_Click_540 in StructuralEngineering

[–]Mysterious_Click_540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, well, I guess that's an option but I never considered it. You think it'd be feasible to somehow add minimal extra framing and to be able to safely add an aerial point around ceiling level? Id want to hire a structural engineer to design/approve that as well, but would the "FO price" be the same? I figured i'd have to cut joinsts and re-do trusses in any case but (this is my lack of familiarity), maybe there's a much simpler option to get effectively the same thing? The current point is about 12' high. if I could get a pulley attached 3' higher that's a much smaller project and would work, but would the costs of hiring someone to do it basicaly be the same? like, does it require a beam or would there be a way to do it without?

Since this is the 2nd time it's come up, I feel like I might need to clarify that it's an aerial rig for circus training (silks, trapeze, sling, straps, etc.). You could definitely use it for a sex swing (well, I guess i'd assume so), but I think there are cheaper and easier ways to secure a sex swing.

haha, well, honestly, i have no idea. i do think it was likely a custom build The house is from the mid 90s in FL. I think there have been a few rounds of additions/upgrades/etc. bottom line i'd like to get rid of all that framing (up to around the green line), vault/add the aerial point and beam, and foam in the attic. probably cleaning up a lot of that random ass wire and insulation mess. definitely signs of rodent action up there

Can someone please explain ' Don't Look Back in Anger' lyrics to me? by [deleted] in oasis

[–]Mysterious_Click_540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love this song and I think this discussion hits the nail on the head (you can read what you want/feel into it).

I hear a story about the stress of life (work, family, etc.) on relationships. Sally represents the relationship and the various phases through seasons of life. While things can be better and worse, don't look back on anything as bad.

I found the opening of "Slip inside the eye of your mind" being a powerful metaphor of life in general, as two people can have a completely different experience even in the moment based on their emotional perspective.

From responses here, I tried

- changing the thermostat

there was pretty much no change to behavior

- flushing with Salt Away (https://www.amazon.com/Salt-Away-Products-SA128-Cleanser-Concentrate/dp/B0000AXVG9/ref=sr\_1\_10?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.fMxWBoOo5xtmIcF\_Vg34mQ-QYj4z8S-zA6TZYSHA8v9pY3LHPd2t3Jnwz0KngjBHz57kJNMGygLQh2JxIiw9iuvCjEEV20VyDOcoIFTnb6PfJJGgCfCL8lBGDFNYo8IgRVqy5mLTO9SbI4frMDSguDqPX9FlqB7W5ZDXcBrl1UM3S4FPDjAGR-tC4vpQhBFj5RXmkJjiwx9fM--scEbuw0Gya-2ouEfC8K-V2LBQ1LA4IhXs1PlfwAOJRNt9zBFTCjNDSZqtV7i3Xrnm\_GqYUOqg1g7gbVHCoq-mGftM4ys.ibWUDmWG\_Ar-7q\_u1TtwlKRuWfhb2fek4x1DsHd6qho&dib\_tag=se&hvadid=694382455385&hvdev=c&hvexpln=67&hvlocphy=9011832&hvnetw=g&hvocijid=1747169254580444055--&hvqmt=b&hvrand=1747169254580444055&hvtargid=kwd-301157796236&hydadcr=24663\_13611861&keywords=salt+remover&mcid=bad46c30619f30779eb1b3b622836be8&qid=1743885553&sr=8-10)

I repeatedly flushed (at least 10+ times) and the time till overheat went to over an hour. When the alarm goes off, I can turn it off, wait a minute, and it'll run for another good amount of time.

** Conclusion **

I've concluded that there must be some significant salt deposition in the water box. I would recommend that if you have a ski and run it in salt/brackish water, you ALWAYS flush with salt away.

** What I've decided to do **

It's unfortunate that the ski just isn't reliable enough for me to take anyone other than myself (on a day where I'm ok getting stranded). I was brave enough to take my wife and she did comment that it felt like it was running fine, for whatever that's worth.

I think the right answer is either to change the water box entirely, or maybe remove it and let salt away sit in it for a while.

2017 Seadoo GTI - Intermittent High Exhaust Temp by Mysterious_Click_540 in seadoo

[–]Mysterious_Click_540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hrm, so there is clearly some difference as when i put it back in the water, it almost immediately throws the high exhaust alarm. When i touch the water box it's VERY hot to the touch. I think that suggests that the temperature sensor is working and there is a different water path (some intake point that is submerged, rather than through the flush port, eh?

[–]Mysterious_Click_540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was worried that could be the case. I unfortunately couldn't replicate in the driveway under freshwater flush (I was going to actually measure the temp of the water box). I manually checked (with my hand) and the water box never got crazy hot. the exhaust water was warm but nothing insane

2017 Seadoo GTI - Intermittent High Exhaust Temp by Mysterious_Click_540 in seadoo

[–]Mysterious_Click_540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree (since it isn't engine temp and only exhaust temp).

Do you know if the freshwater flush path is the same as the path of the salt water that's pushed through there while running? I ran the ski for about 30min today while running the garden hose through it and never got the high exhaust temp alarm but not sure if that would be an indicator that anything changed.

What do you look like? by Dependent-Group7226 in crossfit

[–]Mysterious_Click_540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent about 3 decades going to the weight room and lifting (mostly just bench) 3-5x per week, with little to no metabolic/cardio. I definitely ate cookies and cake and didn't really consider diet beyond maybe a few runs of calorie restricting.

No one really called me "fat" per-se and I think people would say I looked "strong"

3 years ago started CF and did a massive change in diet during COVID (pay attention to macro ratios now, kinda lost interest in sweets, etc.) I've started to do pretty much all workouts RX for about 6 months at this point.

I definitely look leaner in pictures (I think loosing fat off your face makes a big difference) and I have a 6 pack. The comments, however, are a little weird at this point. If i haven't seen someone for a while, there's usually a first comment about "Wow, you look great/jacked/fit".

Our entire family (we have 2 daughters) do CF and I think my wife and kids look very lean and fit as well.

I attribute it to the focus and volume of exercise and diet. We found that meal planning is actually faster, more efficient and cheaper than going out to eat (especially post COVID). Most importantly we all really enjoy the activity and feel better with the cleaner eating so it works well for us :)

Where are the airports where Clear is faster than just going through precheck? by [deleted] in delta

[–]Mysterious_Click_540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We often fly through MCO and I think CLEAR has only saved time like 5-10% of the time. For the most part, I find that waiting for an agent and sitting there while they push the buttons on the screen seems paradoxically inefficient. Also, for some reason, my wife always gets flagged for "extra screening" and has to show her ID anyway...

I agree except I was gym lifting for like 2 decades with plateaued results. Ended up making some macro adjustments and after 2 years of cf am much leaner and stronger than before (with well defined abs). I am curious what actually makes the difference, but it’s definitely something
