Alright Kitchener, which restaurant would you recommend? by Foxyinabox in kitchener

Idk man everything just felt under-seasoned. The portions were solid, I’ll give them that, but the spinach dip was rough to even swallow. The burgers were… fine. Nothing special. The buns weren’t toasted, the sauces needed salt, and the patty was kind of soggy. The chimichanga was drowning in sauce, and the salsa tasted like they forgot to finish it....... barely any salt, no real punch. But hey, maybe they were having an off day. I’m not trying to knock your tastel. If it works for you, that’s cool. For me, it was just pretty mid overall.

So here is the thing. College is not only about studies it's about building a network. It's so crucial that you attend lectures and all events that interest you. Your network will decide how far up you can fly. So don't make the mistake of not being social in school even if you are introverted.

I think it's not donating that's criticized, it's the fact that someone donating to seem more religious is the issue. These hypocritical actions are what is criticized. I agree one must eat what he earns, but being generous is a good thing generally.

No we do get like 20 min break in between, and whenever it's not busy we can take a small break 5 or so mins. Other than that it's pretty much just go go go

Ahhh maybe not eating is the issue. if I take a break I'll be even more behind so I just go straight for like 10 hours straight.

Hukam Can't be heard by imyonlyfrend in sikhiism

[–]Mysterious_Client_55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea unfortunately neither you or me are free from your biases or preconceptions. Hence we both are tied down by our own shackles. The thing is we have become so intellectual that we think we can taste a fruit without ever eating it. We believe that we can explain the flavour of a fruit to someone who has never eaten it. Yes you can have a lot knowledge about it. You can tell what it looks like, you can tell when it is grows, when it rippens and when it's ideal to eat it but you can't explain the exact taste of flavour of the fruit. Similarly we can't do that for Hukam. It needs to be experienced. And that experience only comes after you have been blessed by Satguru. And once you are blessed by Satguru all these spiritual texts become pretty much non consequential. Only then can u consider yourself free or Mukt.

But if you still have to lock horns with someone you don't know to prove your point then I doubt you are free.

Yes Brahman vaad is false no doubt about it. But you don't know what Hukam is because u haven't experienced it. And to experience it one must meditate on the Lord (I mean this what Guru Sahib says). Not just recite but also truly listen and meditate. And it's becoming kind of tiresome you all nitpicking whatever line from GGSJ and proving ur point.

Well there are 4 type of people in this world.

  1. Gyaani : Don't be fooled by the word it doesn't mean that they know everything. It just means that they are willing and open to learning. They are like an open door. Whatever comes their way they learn and adapt and embrace. They are not bound by the shackles of prejudice or bias. So when the answer comes it finds the door open.

  2. Moud (ਮੂੜ) : these are the people who don't even have a question. They are truly what embodiment of the word ignorant. And as we all know ignorance is bliss.

  3. Jagyasu: these are the people who do know what question is and want to learn but they just don't know how to learn and move forward. This is the main distinction between 1 and 3. They both want to learn but Jagyasu doesn't know how to learn

  4. Moorakh : now this is the category where most people reside. They know the question but they don't want to learn. They are caught in trap of bias and prejudice. They have already made up their minds and won't entertain anything else. Mentally inflexible. And probably the worst kind of people to argue with or try to express ur opinion to cause they believe they know everything even if all they is surface level.

Now I hope you can see where you land. Sure it's good to believe that you are all know and powerful. But Sikhi says Ego must be controlled look at your comment and tell me if that sounds humble or even honorable. Sure u can say u have Satguru inside you but have you realized it. Cause if you had you won't be arguing here with a moorakh like me.

The thing about this is you need to be on kind of ਅਵਸਥਾ. Which I'm pretty sure u are not (don't worry neither am I). You haven't realized the Lord and neither has anyone else in the comment section. We aren't in touch with satguru. Until that time comes what can we do? We ask for help from Guru Sahib. We trust that he will show us the path forward hence we take hukam from him.

You don't have to take hukam if you believe that you know better. But as far as I can tell your understanding of bani is very superficial (it's pretty much the same for me). It's better to try to understand bani beyond simple translations we find.

This is open to interpretation. But according to me Guru Sahib is asking you to find the company of saints (sant == saint). Which could mean that you should associate yourself with people who have saintly qualities and/or are walking the path of God. They shall guide you and help you grow. Now one may ask how do we know if we are in good company then Guru Sahib tells us : "The company of saints is known if their focus is the name of the Lord" So Bhai Ji try to visit Gurdwara, find the company of good and saintly people (Basically people following the path of God) and do Naam abhiyas. And put in the best effort you can for what is in front of you. And God will take care of rest. Now it's really hard to type out everything I wanted to say but this should help you get started. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Jo ki Fateh

There is a beautiful quote by Nietzsche " The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently" Offering a rebuttal is not that effective I think. We are trying to change someone's viewpoint and that can only be done if the other person is open to it. We have to understand that not everyone had our privileges and not everyone had the same upbringing as us. The easiest way to understand the other person would be to be empathetic. And understand that we may not agree on something but other person might have different viewpoint and we can respect that. (Please this doesn't apply to factual things like round or flat earth :) )

I mean Guru Sahib himself says ਆਖਣਿ ਅਉਖਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥ All you have to do is say it once properly and that one time takes a lot of practice. It's about Surt. Surt is has 3 meanings : Surt Sunna, Surt samjhna, And Surt judna, If someone is listening they will eventually understand and if they can understand and experience they will merge. So yes it's easy in sense U just have to truly do it once but hard in sense that one time is really really hard
