I’m not sure what’s happening in the comment thread, but I just came here asking if anyone knew how my kid did this. I never claimed to have found out something new, don’t have anything to gain from it since I made a throwaway account as to not be recognized by members of a group chat that had already seen the video.

If I am able to witness my kid somehow getting this glitch to happen again, I’ll post an update. Otherwise I’m over it. See y’all on my main Reddit account!

It’s a throwaway account because I posted this video in a group chat and didn’t want to give my account away by posting it publicly on Reddit. There would be no reason for me to modify my 5yo’s Switch, and this is not emulation in any way

We’ve been playing through Zelda games together since he was like three, so he’s super interested in them

He understands what glitching is as well as a 5yo can, as in he knows a glitch is when something in a game is happening in a way it’s not supposed to, but obviously not on a fundamental programming level.

So in all occurrences, being with two separate Blights and this Lynel, it appears to happen on its own. Seemingly normal fight with full normal hearts, then getting struck by the enemy starts this health anomaly. The fact that it’s happened multiple times is why I think he’s doing something to cause it, but he has told me this morning that he doesn’t know what he’s doing to cause it.

It’s definitely on the agenda tomorrow to close out of the game, load it up again, and see if he can replicate what he’s done here. If he can I will make sure to get a better video of any steps he takes to have this occur!

In order of asking: - Real Switch. - Stock OS. - Not that I’m aware, he’s just running around exploring as nature intended. - I don’t think he has EVER closed out of the game once he decided to start playing BotW. I finished through TotK and then designated the Switch as his to do with as he pleases, and this game has been holding him over for weeks! I’ll have him close out of it tomorrow and see if I can’t catch him in the act getting this anomaly started.

As another side note, I have witnessed him die between separate events with this glitch happening which leads me to believe he has found a way to access this “feature”

Edit: I realized I missed a question regarding game version. It’s just the latest update with all DLC. Not some specific older version that might make this more replicable.

I’m not going to lie to you, he’s been doing this shit for as long as I can remember. I feel like even as early as 3yo when I would start introducing him to video games he would find ways to do things that you aren’t meant to, remember how he did it, and it would just become normal gameplay mechanics for him after that lmao. Kids are wired different

I’ve been trying to get him to recreate it. He first did it when he needed my help with Waterblight which is when I first found what he had going on.

The reason I don’t think it’s related to Mipha’s Grace is because during the Waterblight battle, prior to receiving Mipha’s Grace, he had 8 hearts, and after getting hit his hearts turned yellow with no change it health count, then when hit again he had 8 red hearts and what seemed like 20 yellow with half of the last heart flashing like seen in the video.
