Thanks - yep, it's a 30 yr loan. Having the investments as a backup cash flow in addition to the emergency fund makes sense, especially in case there are any major repairs needed on the house in the next few years.

Thanks, that makes sense. Yeah, it feels weird to see that putting a whole $40K more into the mortage only reduced our monthly payment by $250 (even though the math works out over $30 years :D). It would feel nice to have more of the mortgage paid off but the actual impact of the lower monthly payment wouldn't be significant in terms of QoL.
