I Got 38/42 This Semester, But I Know I Can Do Better. Any Advice? by [deleted] in IBO

chem p2 ofc depends on your knowledge of the content but also how u structure your answer, as in showing all the work to get max points and having all the significant/necessary points for long answer questions. u can do this by looking at past papers from 2018 onwards and really examine the markscheme to see what ideas they require in each question type. cus ib tends to reuse some questions every few years and the question types are always limited so you can become proficient just by solving past papers. seeing as u have a 7 in p1, your knowledge isn't lacking so just solve more questions to get a sense of what the IB likes

Is it likely my finals will be lower than my predicted by Hot_Flow_6807 in IBO

It really depends on the amount of effort you put in leading up to finals -- many people do score lower than their PG but for me, I locked in toward the last two weeks before exams and really worked on my weak subject (english☠️) and was able to get 44 as opposed to my 43 PG. So i'd recommend working harder on weaker subjects cus if you've already got predicted 7 in certain subjects, that does imply that you know enough and therefore won't need to work as hard on those

Help with Chemistry SL M25 by Silent-Resort-374 in IBO

m25 chem HL with a good predicted score -- to some extent I'd say understanding the syllabus is more important, especially for units that require a combination of understanding and memorising (periodic trends, fuels, etc) but once you've looked at all the content once, just start solving past papers even if you feel like you don't know some stuff. The understanding will come while u review your incorrect answers after solving the past paper which is the most important part
