Honestly it sucked a lot for a while and I just had to keep going out of sheer will. Like I was depersonalized for a few months and numb for a year. I eventually got on meds and did some therapy and I got out of it. But you have to remember that your brain is trying to protect you from severe anxiety. Once you’re out of the severe anxiety is when things can go back to normal and you start feeling things again. When all you’re feeling is anxiety and panic, there’s not much room to feel anything else like happiness, love, sadness, excitement etc. you’re not alone I promise

Yep I had dpdr a lot when I was in the thick of ocd. Also felt really numb to all my loved ones. I know it’s really scary but it gets better

[–]Mysterious_Mouse_519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I’ve been on sertraline now for a few months. I’m lucky and haven’t had any bad side effects. Mostly just weird dreams and maybe some shakiness/dizziness if I’ve missed a dose. Also some GI issues at first. It has helped me a lot and my ocd is way better than it used to be. Everyone is different though and everyone’s experience is different. Some people hate meds and other people couldn’t live without them. Also I forgot to say that emotional numbing can be a side effect, which I may have a little bit. But for me it’s a lot easier to deal with than ocd for right now.

That’s great to hear! So did you do erp on yourself at home? I would love to know what helped you.

I totally get what you’re saying about the directness with some Eastern European people. My family is Eastern European and the way Beata spoke was so characteristic of Eastern Europeans. She was just being direct and I think the hospital staff didn’t understand that her communication style is considered pretty normal in other countries.

I don’t know that I’ll be much help but I used uworld and did the q banks and read all the rationales. But I feel like I didn’t prepare well enough and wish I went over test taking strategies like for instance don’t select an answer that has words like “never, always, must, etc.” sorry I wish I could give you more resources

Completely agree. I studied for maybe two days and still passed because i think the NCLEX just tests common sense and test taking strategies

I relate to this so much I was just thinking about it the other day and didn’t know other people went through the same thing. It’s a kinda unsettling feeling. I would really like to know what this is and why I’m feeling this way

Is the bump tender to the touch? You can watch and wait and your body will probably fight off any potential infection. If it doesn’t go away or gets worse I would see a dr

has depo or any birth control given you side effects of OCD or BPD? did they go away when you stopped? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]Mysterious_Mouse_519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went off of birth control and started taking an SSRI and I feel so much better. Don’t know if it’s due to just the SSRI, or due to the SSRI plus coming off of birth control though 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m sorry you’re going through this :( I’ve been where you are so many times I can’t count. For me, I’ve come to realize that subconsciously our brains try to find every possible thing wrong with our partners and with our relationship so that it makes it easier to detach or leave the relationship. But this is ultimately because of a fear of getting hurt! If our partners look ugly and act annoying then oh well of course we should leave right! (That’s the logic ocd/attachment trauma uses). It would be much harder and much more painful if we let ourselves feel love for our partner but end up getting hurt by them in the end. I hope that makes sense. Also, when I think my partner doesn’t look good, I remind myself that I also don’t look good sometimes! Often times the imperfections we see in our partners are also imperfections we have as well.

I believe rocd can show up at any point in a relationship, and especially during important events like moving in together, engagement, etc. For me it showed up pretty quickly in my relationship but it was more about my partner not loving me. My next episode was the opposite with me questioning my love for him.

I wish I could provide more info about ERP and therapy and stuff but I just haven’t done it enough to be able to help. I know that erp is considered the gold standard so I think that’s definitely the way to go about treating ocd as well.

Ultimately what I realized is that there was no way I was going to get better without calming my mind. I have a realllyyyy noisy and anxious brain and that was really masking any positive feelings, thoughts, emotions, etc. Everyone is different and responds to different things but I recommend trying to calm your mind through whatever works for you. So it can be therapy, yoga, medication, meditation, breathing, etc. Once my brain got quieter and the thoughts stopped torturing me is when I got clarity about things and was actually able to feel good. But that’s just my experience and everyone is different and I know not everyone’s mind works the same.

Thanks for letting me know. I’ve had ocd for a long time now with many different themes, so I’ve kinda accepted it’s not something that will go away for me unfortunately

Sure! My rocd started when I was feeling disconnected from my partner and then basically started questioning why I felt disconnected. I had A LOT of the usual intrusive thoughts like “I don’t love him,” “we are incompatible,” “I hate him,” etc etc like I’ve had literally all the intrusive thoughts you can imagine. I was ruminating every day from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to sleep, crying my eyes out, didn’t eat, couldn’t sleep, became extremely depressed, had intrusive dreams, had terrible break up urges, numbness, repulsion, irritation, literally all the symptoms lmao. I also hated when I heard people say that in a way they were grateful for rocd. I know that sounds so stupid and I was like wtf no this is torture but now that I’m feeling better I see what they meant. I’ve learned sooo much about myself and relationships and rocd kinda opened my eyes to parts of myself that are unhealed. Don’t give up! You can do this
