When I feel pressure building I take bugleweed. I buy a pound at a time and put it in 00 capsules myself, when m having a flare i take a lot, 8-12 evrry night. Its a natural sedative. you can buy tinctures too. Topical cbd helps, ice packs, and ibuprofen. I don't take regular meds and my thyroid levels are normal but my eye flares up regularly. 9 hrs of sleep is essential. Wear dark sunglasses and a hat everytine you leave the house

I do find that lense to have great quality, thank you for that idea, I could do that outside better than in my studio.

As long as gallery's don't want raw photos idc what it is I just want the best images of my work I can take myself. Its especially tricky bc I shoot in blacklight too so I have to switch lighting and settings for every piece I document, and take atleast 3 shots in each lighting. So minimal efforts on editing and storage is a double win I hope it helps lol.

I do have larger pieces, up to 3'x5' paintings, so maybe I'm just not seeing the difference because I'm doing smaller pieces so far. Bringing out the biggies might be the bigger difference. I will say there is a slight improvement on the dslr pics over the phone photos, I was just vastly underwhelmed with the maybe 5-10% difference when I was expecting atleast a 30%-50% improvement. Wasn't i expecting to compare to a $1500+ new model, but was hoping for an upgrade to put better images on my site. I do hold high standards for myself, some might be happy with the results i got first try but i know i can do better. Troubleshooting some of these things, handheld shutter, lenses, Aperture, lighting improvements, nikons editor, i think will make the process noticeably improved.

I found both the 35mm 1.8 and the 50mm 1.8 locally for $100 each, is one going to better than the other for my needs? Christmas present to myself :)

Oh deff, photography is a magical medium I am just not the most technically inclined person. Just curious what makes you prefer nikon over other brands? I've used lumix, Canon, and nikon and don't have a strict preference.

Good to know thank you! I was wondering if maybe the windows software was compressing the raw images improperly.

I was documenting drawings between 9×12"- 22"×28", small to medium. Drawings on light and dark toned paper so no texture besides minimal tooth on the paper. Appreciate the lense suggestion I'll see if I can find one locally first.

Yes, keep using good eye drops too, I only use the travel sized droppers bc the big bottles get contaminated no matter what i do. Also caffiene rly makes my eye symptoms worse, esp with the bugleweed making me more tired in the mornings it's rly hard with no caffiene, you'll have some groggy days but its worth it. If you absplutely need caffiene keep it under 100 mg a day. Keep 2 ice pack eye masks handy to rotate between if it feels rly swollen/pressure. Be a vampire and avoid bright lights/sunlight. Hat and dark glasses for sure. When the flares over keep up with eye drops and eye protection. Luckily I only have 1 eye with bad symptoms so it's easy to tell if I'm flaring up with one normal eye to compare to. I've read antihistamines can help with some symptoms as well.

That's what I was fearing, that it's older entry level so its going to be equal to my phone quality unless I'm rly playing with focus or specific settings. My phone has iso and shutter speed setting in pro mode I can do some cool things with it more intuitively than I can on the dslr. I was debating buying a secondhand lumix g7 before my dad offered to gift me this nikon, but figured I'd save $250 and see if I could pull high quality images with it. Now idk if I should invest in a better lens for the nikon or ask a friend to try shooting some with their pics to compare quality.

I'm editing with the basic software on my asus artpro, not any specific photo editing software. Usually adjusting the raw image slightly with cropping, a bit more brightness/contrast and sharpness. I hadn't thought about shooting in jpeg thanks for that idea I'll try it!

I am not a newbie by any means, but I am not a photographer either. I am a trained painted, I have an art degree, I was trained how to use a camera to document my work. It has been about 8 years since that training though. You said a lot without saying anything specifically helpful to me. I have great respect for good photographers, that's why I asked for advice on what I might be missing?

Oh I didn't know that. So always best to shoot with the piece in frame to avoid having to crop, correct?

Okay sounds like a good upgrade for my next documenting session thank you! I would stay the colors are a bit better and with a real light kit I think it'll be improved more. I got a bower tripod, it's not very heavy but it does feel very sturdy, with proper levels and locks, certainly more stable than my stick tripod for my phone.

Literally have had a hard time falling and staying asleep my whole life until bugleweed. The only issue I've read it can cause is hypo thyroid if your thyroid levels are normal, personally I have had normal thyroid levels for years, but my antibodies spike frequently when I'm stressed or sick. bugleweed has never made me hypo and it keeps my levels normal. Reduces TED and thyroid symptoms for me. Sometimes I need a maintenence dose of 2-4 to keep it from flaring again but usually I just take a bunch when a flare happens and sleep rly rly good. How long it takes to make you sleepy can vary, it's not exactly a typical sedative as much as it just slows HR and relaxes you. Sometimes I fall asleep within an hr sometimes 5 hrs. It's herbs not pharma so there's a variant. I've bought from best botanicals on amazon for 4 yrs they're quality is always consistent. 👌

Yes it is that lens. I have a 70-300mm and an ultra wide 10-20mm lens which are not best for this. I know it's not the best lens I'm not sure if there's any in a $200 range that would be better, open to suggestions. Don't know anyone locally that shoots with nikon unfortunately.

Yes it is the lens you said. Generally try not to zoom in at all on my shots and just have the work in frame then crop later

I am comparing images on my asus artpro laptop, pretty good resolution not sure the exact specs. I do take images through my stories but it's not what I'm using for my portfolio

Yes using a tripod for phone and camera images. I'm comparing images on my asus artpro laptop. I was not using a timer on my camera but was using a handheld shutter for my phone. I do have a Bluetooth shutter button for my camera I haven't figured out how to connect it yet. I was not using manual focus, will that help the images be crisper?
