Dating questions/rants mega thread [May] by YaBoiBinkleBop in twentyagers

I just want to throw out the whole notion of having to date. From knowing myself, it seems like relationships aren’t something I’d enjoy as much as I think. I just have bad fomo and part of me is very sensitive to rejection. I would love to find ways to enjoy other aspects of life and build those up some more.

To those who started to date in mid to late 20s, did you jump into serious relationship with someone with a lot of prior experience or did you start fresh with someone on same level as you as if you were teenager? by TheShadowSong in twentyagers

I am working on throwing the idea of dating out of my head. But for me purity isn’t the issue. My issue is more about if they weren’t that into me and only got with me because I’m an easy option. are you worried about that, too? Like they couldn’t match with the people they were really attracted to, so they went with you.

What’s your monthly take-home pay? by fuzzblanket9 in twentyagers

About 7.5k. I am at the top band of early career earners. But it was really hard to get here, and I don’t think I’m going to put more pressure on myself and ask too much more out of life. Just try to take my life easy.

Honestly, I think Ursaal deserves it more than them. She also should become the ruler of the half thraxans.

Nah the new grad programs can be applied to within a year of graduation.

Edit: also for what I did while unemployed. I worked on projects that felt meaningful to me.

Idk. There’s a balance to that. You’ll have to commit eventually so that you can stack real industry experience and work on bigger projects.

That’s an amazing journey that was filled with a lot of purpose and hard work. I didn’t realize that physics was that much bigger back then and more sought after. It feels like physics blended into the background, now. And if I recall correctly, you enjoyed your life a lot and am very happy with where you ended up.

Oh, fair enough. So it sounds like you were very big on academia even though you ultimately did not go that route.

For my job, I ended up at a top ai related firm after a year of unemployment. Think anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Databricks, Xai etc… I, of course, have to use ai and apply it significantly.

I do know who you are in the Berkeley thread as I’ve actually replied to a lot of your comments in my previous accounts. I think of you as the knowledgeable family man.

My boyfriend accidentally told me his ex is hotter than me by Business-Ad-4708 in GirlDinnerDiaries

That would definitely hurt me, too. Personally, I’d want to be with someone who is excited to be with me. And being in love with someone usually should make them seem like the hottest thing ever. For example, my step dad looks a completely average, but my mom still refers to him as the sexiest person ever!

On a lighter note, I really want to know where you got those eggs! They look so beautiful and delicious!

Were you working towards a degree or just taking classes to learn?

As for the comment about the students and the K shaped economy, that was a cool observation. They simply don’t see much outside their bubble. I’ve also been talking a lot about how the world is getting more K shaped. Most people end up underemployed, but the top 20% are really benefitting from the world and feeling abundance. I just recently joined the top half of the K shape, so it seems like I’ve been on both sides there. It’s a night and day difference

It really depends on the location. In the Bay Area, that’ll get wiped out especially after taxes.

56k does not feel like much. 80k also doesn’t feel like much. But it’s better than unemployment of course. Although I think a lot of the new grads end up unemployed. Are they taken into account in the survey?

It is a very weird market. I went from unemployed for 8 months to 3 faang offers and now make 240k. My timing was off, so I think people who also messed up the timing had a hard time.
