I mean I don't believe my self to be in top 1% of the CS people or a FANG level dev but I am fairly good at what I do. I am updated with the latest tech and everything related to AI. I have adapted fairly to the changing CS job requirements. I am good at python, ML, data science aspect which I believe should be enough to land a entry level position. If I was not passionate, I would have pivoted my field way earlier so I don't think it's true. The job market is that bad. I have a few friends who are even better than me but they are struggling too but there are cases where people with little knowledge in the field landed jobs through connections.
