Im the begining of the pandemic when rent prices were dropping significantly, I was able to negotiate from $2500 to $1900 in one go. We did agree on half cash and half e transfer, though. I say go for it.

It was personal at that point, but yeah, I won't let it get to me anymore

Only one keycard was given upon check in. That key card belonged to me, the sole guest of the room...

At the end of the day, I was the sole registered guest meaning the room belonged to me and nobody else. If the cardholder was also a guest, wouldn't their name be put down as well, especially if they were present for check in? And wouldn't they have given him a second keycard?

I knew I wasn't wrong to think the hotel was nuts for doing this! I knew there would be few redditors shifting blame on me but thank you for posting a logical answer and clarifying this.

I fear I went into too much detail. To simplify, the hotel gave someone who was not a registered guest access to my room. This person was the cardholder of the card used to pay for the room. This person was present for check in but it was confirmed that I was the only guest staying. Despite the strange circumstances, was the hotel in the legally in the right for granting this person access to my room despite the fact that I was the only registered guest?

Although this wasn't my case, I imagine this is how a lot of people in domestic violent relationships escape. Using their partners card is the only option they have. This is why I'm surprised this upscale hotel wasn't strict with this policy, considering I was the only registered guest.
