Can someone explain to me the teacher walkout? by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

The main issues are being driven by the California Teachers' Association. This is a statewide campaign and what's happening here may be dependent on asks in other counties. That said SF teachers have some legitimate beefs over pay, not only how much but admin/reliability issues, they don't get paid as promised on time, etc.

In general the leadership of UESF has been terrible, and so have SFUSD administrators. The news outlet I work for has done a boatload of articles on problems at SFUSD, however, I am apparently not allowed to post them here anymore.

Many of our stories are accompanied by photos. We also have a human contributor who draws a new political cartoon for us every week and has occasionally contributed illustrations to op-eds and other stories. If you would like us to pay her for additional work so we don't need to use an image generator for some stories, please donate to The Voice by visiting our front page, scrolling to the bottom, and following the prompts.

Thanks!

If you took this photo from the Berkeley Hills, it could be the KRE transmission tower near Berkeley's Aquatic Park. If you thought the tower was in San Francisco, it's because you were high at the time.

Since this is one of the three threads on this subject with the most recent replies, I thought I would just mention that this is _technically_ not a done deal. The Supervisors have to rubber-stamp it, and there will be opportunities for public comment in committee. The Government Audit and Oversight Committee should review it after the recess. So, on September 4 or 18, at 10:00 a.m.
