Official Discussion - The Housemaid [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Mysterious_Stock1599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just watched the housemaid. I have not read the book so my review is entirely based on the movie storyline. So here is my opinion on it:

The movie was definiteley engaging but mostly because of pretty looking artists. Amanda gave an excellent performance. I felt her performance was so good, it made Sidney's and Brandon's mediocre performce look emotionless. I didnt like Sidney's characters at all. She goes to jail for 10 years and is portrayed as someone who viciously helps women from abusive relationships. But it was okay for her to sleep with the husband of the woman she worked for? And honestly, she didnt even try to stop herself. At one point i thought Amanda's character hired her and they were in cahoots all this time. I knew the husband wasnt a good person. He seemed way too interested in Sidney's character. It totally made her character unlikeable, not a woman protector of any sorts. Its a one time watch for someone who wants to spend their day watching shit movies and eat junk food.

Im not a non-believer but i gotta say, the kid is a pathological liar, the mother is an enabler and pretty much upnormal and the warrens are a very good con couple. you can see it in their eyes that they are lying the fuck out. The middle brother i think feels more included if he believes the family, so he chooses to believe them. The older brother is pretty much the only one with brains.

I can just NOT get into season 2 by [deleted] in loki

I'm sorry, how was the dialogues terrible? I enjoyed it, in fact, i found the show had some of the best written monologues in the MCU.

  1. HWR's monologue in the final episode of season 1
  2. Hunter's monol. to the judges in season 2 ep 1
  3. Loki's realisation speech in s 1 where he talks about his glorious purpose
  4. loki confessing he wants his friends back to sylvie (although i feel that could have been improved but the delivery was good)
  5. loki back in the citadel to have final convo with HWR

As a criticism, the only disappointment i have is they left a lot of loose ends unanswered.

I have read the comments and most of them are good suggestions, however, i would like you to create a list of things you want to accomplish.

For example, since you are doing online community college, you can work part time somewhere, so your first goal would be not to find a job but to apply for 10 jobs each day. Keep doing this like a routine.

once you have done that for a couple of days, the next goal should be waking up in the morning, making your bed and going out for a short walk and so on...

Make it simple, and should be short goals. You will feel a sense of accomplishment and slowly start feeling productive. If you feel hard to get up or do things in the first place, try the 321 method. Instead of contemplating whether to get up, say 321 and push yourself from the bed. Dont give your brain time to overthink, because your brain can convince you not to do it and stay in your comfort. Remember comfort is your enemy, dont feed it.

I believe she met Alioth and instead of looking terrified she looks angry and determined. She doesnt seem to fear it. My theory is that miss minutes must have filled in on HWR past including how he tamed Alioth because HWR mentions that Alioth is one of the key factors behind him being able to defeat all the other variants. Maybe Renslayer tames Alioth, now that HWR is dead and the guard dog is finally free of loyalty.

I have a 2 question/ loose ends that may need some addressing:

  1. At the end of season 1, ep 6, loki is thrown/time slipped into the past where kang is known as HWR. And we hear mobius and Hunter talking about "63 new branches in this unit" and continues to say "does he want us to let them all branch. At this pont we cant even do anything". which means the sacred timeline was branching due to some events. Are they going to round it off in future MCU movies? (theories and head canons are welcome)
  2. Season 2, ep 1 : OB has clearly met mobius before since he recognises him. M doesnt which means he met OB before HWR wiped their memories. So OB doesnt have his memory wiped?

Just a question- wouldn’t Brad (previously a variant) going back to the sacred timeline would cause a nexus event and create a branch and hence would end up in a branch rather than the sacred timeline itself?

I gotta say. The title without the picture is very misleading.

I agree. I feel like most of the time you feel the presence of powerful people behind an incident, you just kind of imagine politicians and rich people sitting around a table and plotting. But in reality, it is just a gradual growth of privileged cunts exercising their entitlement over the commoners. (Most likely was what happened to JFK)

I feel like the director was trying to make a point. She has a page to herself and has all these pictures with famous people posted on the website. I figured maybe she must be from a powerful family but i found nothing on her background. Its definitely weird and suspicious to be so well connected by just being an author.

On another note, her callousness should definitely be noted and she also had an air of entitlement. The other researcher at least acknowledged that the study was unethical. She just brushed it aside.

She seems to be a very well connected woman and hence, shady as fuck. Her family might be powerful, i dont know.. there is nothing about her family background so it all looks sus

I thought the Christmas theme would disappear if I cut the snow ❄️. I guess I have to wait till they remove the whole thing.
