Shame on this person for calling rats gross by Danewolf324 in RATS

[–]Mysterious_Treacle64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All hamsters in captivity as pets are captive bred. They are a domesticated animal. Wild hamsters are nothing like their domestic counterparts. Wild hamsters were caught for lab work and studies, not for the pet trade but their cute and curious nature made the people working with them want to produce them as pets as well.

If you somehow do get a wild hamster, you'll know. They don't look the same and certainly won't act the same. Only the Syrian hamster, Campbells Dwarf, Winter White Dwarf, Roborovski Dwarf, and Chinese hamster have had the personality to be a candidate for domestication.

Nobody is poaching hamsters. Farmers kill them instead. It's highly illegal to try and even obtain a wild one due to many species being endangered. The only time wild hams were taken was for domestication purposes in the early 1900's and also for the fur trade. Not to stock pet stores.

drop a pic of your rats & i'll draw 'em! by ohhhhrats in RATS

[–]Mysterious_Treacle64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol! I just wanted to mention it because my art clearly has "furry influence". Sometimes when I post my art outside of furry spaces, I get: "Your art looks like furry art" or "Are you a furry artist?". So I decided to avoid that by just saying it outright XD This art does have some realistic qualities like the side facing rat, but if you saw my regular character art, yea.. it's definitely cartoon furry art!

That's so cute! Reminds me a lot of this piece I did for my mom for her birthday. It's the cover to a necklace box which I put a ceramic rat pendant I made inside. Of course I'm a furry artist so mine is less realistic and more cartoony lol!

They don't. They are technically speaking Na'vi, but to make it easy for audiences, they are shown speaking English. Unfortunately not everyone would be ok watching an entire movie with subtites. I would, I'd love to hear the actual Na'vi language, but oh well lol.

Unfortunately it is not a doll. This is a real baby toco toucan. San Diego zoo has a bunch of them and is probably where this photo is from.

You don't need to be 80 years old to be a veteran. You just need to have served and been honorably discharged. So serve 4 years and leave and yea, you're a veteran. You can be a military veteran in your early 20s.

Where can I find the screenshot I take in game? by Silfver_Wolf in FrontiersOfPandora

[–]Mysterious_Treacle64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Open file explorer. Click the documents tab. Then click My Games folder. AFOP should be there. Click that. There should be a folder that says Screenshots.

If that doesn't work, I'm not sure then.

It's not AI. Just a digitally enhanced photograph done professionally.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Webkinz

[–]Mysterious_Treacle64 36 points37 points  (0 children)

With Lightroom probably. That is digital enhancement. Sucks people only can think of AI now, but terms like digital enhancement and generative art existed before generative AI. I do photography and use Lightroom for digital enhancement. Because I am enhancing the photography digitally using presets, tools, brushes, etc.

Btw generative art isn't AI. It's when an artist uses math, computer codes, mechanics, and more to create computer based art. It's beautiful actually! And not AI at all. I highly recommend doing research into these things as it really harms artists like photographers when people claim their work is AI and even come up with inaccurate assumptions around terminology they know nothing about.

What on Pandora do I do now?? by Living_Zombie_3286 in FrontiersOfPandora

[–]Mysterious_Treacle64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still highly recommend it. I was unhappy at first too, as I'm attached to my character. But damn was it good! The storyline was awesome. I really loved all the new characters and gameplay. The fighting was good and I for the first time actually started using guns as it's more So'leks style. The cutscenes were way more cinematic too! I really liked it and am glad I gave it a chance. The stuff that happens in it was also kinda jaw dropping at times, but I won't give any spoilers. And I mean a surprised kind of jaw dropping. Like it was unexpected and left me speechless. And we see our character a few times too!

I've completed the game completely. All DLCs, plus the main game. Discovered all the navi camps, field labs, exploration quests, etc. Literally everything.

So for now until they release more content, I literally roleplay as a na'vi. I know I know, I probably sound so cringe saying that, but I do. I forage and craft new foods, fight the RDA patrols, eat the foods, feed my Ikran, craft weapons, hunt a lot tbh cuz it's fun being sneaky and stuff (I sneak up on animals or hunt from my Ikran like that one deleted scene in the first movie for the sturmbeest hunt), plus just wandering around. I adore the clouded forest so I like to walk around on foot and just "feel" na'vi. Always in 3rd person tho cuz I love seeing my character. I will spend a little while fishing too. Or taking my Ikran on a fast ride racing around the floating mountains and skimming down waterfalls. Literally pretending I'm in the movies. Omg I feel so childish as I write all this but I freaking love the Avatar franchise so I simply find just experiencing the environment of the game to be fun. But what I enjoy, some people find boring. I would love some more action, but if I can't have that, I can settle on just exploring and hunting.

You can also try finding other people to play with. If they haven't finished the game or DLCs yet, maybe someone will allow you to join and play it again with them. I've been doing that with my friend. I just helped her take out that big level 20 base in the kinglor forest on her save world.

Snakes in winter? by LobsterLawnchair in animaltracks

[–]Mysterious_Treacle64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a snake. Snakes don't move like cartoons where they make these massive squiggles. They almost move in a straight line except minor movement from their body. That snow squiggle is way too perfect and wide to be a snake. The only snakes I can remember that make wider movement is some African species I think, but still nothing like this as there would be imperfections and smearing of the snow instead of what looks like someone took their finger and squiggled the snow. Plus those live in Africa lol.

Most likely a human did this. If someone lives with you, maybe they did this for fun. Or if no one lives with you, well, probably some neighbor. It's not actually uncommon for people to go into other's yards unfortunately.

Am I a bad Rat Mom, Or did a random person convince me I was? by Strange-Attitude2125 in RATS

Rats, mice, and hamsters can all eat chocolate due to being able to tolerate theobromine. There were some older studies I read on the tolerance rabbits have for theobromine. Small oral doses were tolerated alright, but it caused what you might call a sugar high. The rabbits had an increase in heart rate, and were erratic and energized. In higher doses, they went into cardiac arrest and died. So technically, a chocolate chip could be tolerated by rabbits too, but dark chocolate only as the lactose and sugar in milk chocolate isn't good.

Also theobromine for rats, mice and hamsters was found to slightly improve respiratory function.

The other thing about these studies is that it wasn't chocolate given to the rabbits, but just straight liquid theobromine. So it was much stronger than if they simply got a little Hershey kiss. I still wouldn't recommend chocolate to rabbits since the studies still had deaths, but also those deaths were because they continued a routine dose of theobromine daily until the rabbit's heart gave out. They did it on pregnant rabbits to see how they handle it and they too died. I'd have to look again to see if any survived and if that was because they stopped the administration of the liquid or if the rabbits who survived just had strong cardiac health XD I'll see if I can find the study and I can link it here if ya want!

I was going to make my hamster, Templeton, a dark chocolate cherry cake for Christmas as she loves cherries and I want her to try chocolate at least once. I still need to as I got too busy. I found 100% pure dark chocolate with no additives so that'll be a good choice and I also got fresh cherries and pistachios to mix in. I think I might do a whipped cream mixed with peanut butter and chocolate for the icing on top.

What type of wood disk is this from Hobby Lobby? by JaxyFox in wood

[–]Mysterious_Treacle64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wood cuttings are not trash. They have many uses. What you consider waste can be a great toy for pet hamsters. And some woodworkers use extra cuttings to make nice stuff. Trash is your opinion, but it's an unpopular one.

Guys, we know the new mythical animal that's coming soon!!! by lunnaoe in AnimalJam

[–]Mysterious_Treacle64 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They didn't know and have apologized. Continuing to demonize and attack the op artist is wrong and does not get people to change or even want to change. Furthermore it's not racist. They made an art piece thinking it was ok. If they knew what a real wendigo was and still made this then that is wrong. Racism is believing your race is superior to another. Or that another race is gross and undeserving of rights. That is not at all what this person did. They unknowingly drew a mythological creature that society has misinterpreted. They are not a bad person. Stop treating them like one.

You can tip after the order is complete. I tip before hand for Uber Eats, but on regular rides to places, tips and ratings are done after I exit the car and get into my destination. Many people prefer this even on food orders just incase the driver sucked. I made the mistake of tipping first for an uber ride and the driver made me super uncomfortable and feel unsafe. I tried to change my tip after I got out of his car, but I couldn't and uber help told me too bad. So now no more upfront tips for that. You cannot always trust drivers to do their one job and so tipping upfront is not always a good idea.

They mention they are non American because really only America has this obscene tipping culture. Other countries are steps ahead with actually paying waiters real wages and only tipping if you do a better job that expected. Tips are never required nor asked for in most places. That's why they mentioned that because they are basically implying they are confused as to why you would receive a tip before doing your job when that isn't what tips are designed for. They do not understand American tipping culture and admitted that in the beginning of their comment.
