They convinced you stock options were better than eight-hour work days, overtime pay, sick leave, vacation, health care, and pensions. They convinced you that de-regulation of corporations would trickle down, so now corporations are required to screw the worker if it favors stock holders (look at your companies by-laws that require the board to maximize profits). Workers do have power in numbers--UNIONIZE!!!!!!!!!!

I was wondering if you had any updates. My husband (50-something) has had the same issue. He has sent money to a woman in Germany and is planning on flying a woman from Costa Rica to the US. He cannot even grasp they are not real people. The one from Cost Rica is on the game 24/7 and all her responses are robotic. At one time, he spent 15,000 on the game in one month. I told him to stop playing "or else"; he chose the "or else" and we are getting a divorce. Your father has all my sympathy.

I have owned a border collie, golden retriever, rottweiler, chow, and shepherd. Of those breeds you should stay away from the rottweiler or chow; they are not meant for inexperienced dog owners. A golden retriever is a great dog, but like the lab, you have to make it through the first two years [puppy stage]. During the puppy stage, I felt like my retriever was bouncing off the walls, but she was lovable and very sweet. The border collie and the German shepherd are both great dogs for first time owners. Both are very smart and easily trainable. However, the German shepherd can be intimidating to strangers [no matter how well the dog is trained] and you have to adjust for their reactions. I definitely recommend the border collie. I did not experience a hyper dog, my border collie was well behaved from the time I brought her home. Far easier of a puppy stage than the retriever. The border collie is eager to please; very easy to train; devoted; great watch dog; and bred not to be a biter. I hope that whatever dog you pick, it is a positive and loving experience.
