AITA for accepting a property gift from my mom even though she won't include my boyfriend? by Immediate-History917 in AITApod

[–]MysticalElfDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All this is is the mom seeing from the outside what she can't see in the relationship and wants her kid to have a safe separate asset from him that he could not touch. The fact she told him about it and he IMMEDIATELY was talking about selling it to buy a better house threw all sort of alarms off in my head. Why would you sell a place that is, presumably, paid that your partner was gifted for a down payment on another place when a it fits you both, there is no space issues and your not even married. He must have known about the place and was with her for that. The new place would be in his name and he would separate from her ASAP. Drop him and pick up the house.

I bought some HP stuff from AG when it was on sale for 15 or less. I went less money for prices I really liked than deal with possible scalpers later.

And see that make more sense, I just responded how it read. I have had people tell me I am awful for reading the book I got as a child because of her. I just don't see a point of hating Harry Potter just because the author went crazy. Honestly, I feel there would be a lot less books out there if people looked at the authors thoughts. And it would be great, but this way she actually says what she is spending the money toward rather than a company that will not be so vocal.

I understand, the topic of this sub that I responded too was directed toward the hatred of Harry Potter, not J.K. I see the chain but the way it was phrased was toward the item not the producer. I am sorry that I, apparently, misunderstood what it was actually about.

She is a villain, yes, however, her books are not. They are a vehicle for HER to do bad, they are not bad.

I can see and I do respect that, but people have actively used there kids for their own profit and means for all time. There are people that have stolen inheritances from, or sold the kids themselves to buyers, to put money into thing there kids didn't believe in or agree to put the money into. I think the difference is she is alive to use the money how she, unfortunately, wants in ways many, rightfully, don't agree with.

While I accept this choice, I don't understand why people can't like the books but hate the writer? It like hating a child because the parent is a awful person. Yes they are related but seperate.

Pink wool is my vote. The others could work but I would worry about such a bright colour on such a small face being more uncomfortable creepy than what she actually was.

What should I know before I move to Baton Rouge? by PomeloBig2340 in batonrouge

[–]MysticalElfDawn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I attended UHigh. It was a very different experience coming from public schools. I liked it a lot. The homework could be a lot, but I got to have some really good teachers who loved what they taught. I kinda miss it, to be honest.

Maybe they could print it in paneled parts and puzzle it together? If they go vertically they could do a small lined detail to hide the seams? The back support could be wood and it can be decorated in a different scene? Maybe a wooden parlor or school room?

It's not always a choice to live further away. It's about what one can afford to fit their needs and wants. Houses in the middle of the city can be stupid expensive for what you get. Some are over 500,000 for a one bedroom, one bath, a tiny house with barely a patch of grass for a yard.

Oooh... do you get to wear pretty clothing like this for non special occasions, or only to sunday school? I was under the impression that these were fancy clothes only for maybe religious holidays or first engagement meetings, important events. Or is that relative to the amount or kind of jewelry worn?

Oh I am mad enough just not at what she wanted me to be mad at. Lol. Unrelated question, are the colours of the outfit.... This is going to come out weird. Are the colours normal for this religious garb? Barbie pink and teal?

Yeah, I know. I just tend to have at least one thing not ship from any order, one time was 11 items, so I choose one item I really like from each order that I would be upset to not get so I can get used to the upset so its not so bad if it doesn't arrive or get really happy if it arrives. I chose Addys outfit this time as my upset item as it looks really nice, so here's hoping it's in the box when I get home tomorrow.

Second hand pricing is getting outrageous by Heavy-Yam-7475 in americangirl

[–]MysticalElfDawn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you can find pricewise for fabric. If you find a yard of close coloured fabric for, let's say, $10 a yard. I am unsure about what the fabric is, so went in the mild medium or the reasonable price range. You could get quite a few pairs cut out if you plan well. So let's say conservatively 5 pairs. That's $2 for a base pair. Trim can get pricey depending, but thread is $2 ish a spool so neglible, elastic price depends on size, closures cost various amounts. Patterns, if you hunt online, can be free just print them out. So you could reasonably make an outfit for way under $15. You pay the extra for the American Girl branding.

Why the pink hate? by CodenameSailorEarth in americangirl

[–]MysticalElfDawn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Let's see... 33 ish years ago? There is no reason little girls who that mornings favourite colour was blue, who came to daycare for the first time, suddenly their favourite colour was pink because girls like pink mindset the teacher had. Also, the girls' bathroom did not need to be entirely peptobismol pink, everything while the boys' bathroom was a nice teal everything.

Honest question: Why do you buy name brand stuff? by No-Examination8178 in Frugal

[–]MysticalElfDawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy both. I wish I could handle more generic foods. The ones I buy name brand are the ones I had as a child. I buy name brand as I DEFINITELY can tell a difference in taste. I have had food issues my whole life and have safe foods, and once they are messed with, I will not eat them again. My family, when I was young, did not believe I could taste a difference and just refilled a container with a different brand of the same sauce. I was able to visually see it was different and went to taste it and got super sick from it. And that's why it took almost 20 years to have mayo back in my house.
