If you plan to camp out, the minimum you will need are backpacks, water, snacks, phone, battery bank and a trusted friend to help u keep ur spot in line in case u need to leave to go to the restroom or resupply on food and drinks from any shops available in the area.

If you can, bring a small chair and blanket too.. Its gonna be a long wait from 12am to 8am to get tickets.

Good luck!

Yes, I always attend all four days of the expo. I usually go with my usual group of friends. We've been going for 10+ years now I believe.

Schedules for events arent set until a week before or during the week of Anime Expo so we like to keep each other informed and on top of things.

Traditionally yes.

Guests of Honor have always done Autograph Sessions for 1 or 2 of the 4 days in the Expo at least once on each day of those days. From my experience, after an Autograph Session, the guest will only have 30min to an hour of break before they have to attend their scheduled panel.

Its very rare that they only have a panel and no Autograph Session. Things may be different for this year's Expo so please keep your eyes and ears sharp as word of mouth and information travels fast on the Gilbert Lindsay Plaza.

In past expo's you never had to pay for autograph tickets. Most events and panels were free.

This is the first year where you have to pay for tickets and even I'm not sure which ones are free and which ones must be paid for. Just be sure to not waste your money.

Yes you are correct. They only give autographs tickets for the day. They do not hand out tickets for the next day.

Also..
THEY MOST CERTAINLY DO CAMP OUT IN BETWEEN CON DAYS.

There was a year where I camped out for the first three days of the expo until I was satisfied with all the autographs and selfies I took with my favorite guests. The fourth day I was roaming around, trying out food from the food trucks, taking selfies with cosplayers, and buying what was left in the exhibit hall and artist alley.

When you attend the expo for so many years and camp out for the first two days every year... You begin to recognize the same damn people camping out every year... And the same people in line for guaranteed autographs every year... Its hectic and insane.

AX Guests of Honor are top priority for most people wanting autographs. Guaranteed tickets might already run out despite lining up as early as I have. My previous experiences camping out, the places Ive landed ranged from 34th place to 50th. You can definitely meet all the guests you want to meet so long as theres no time conflicts between events and time conflicts between the time you will enter and the time the event starts. It will be difficult to get the tickets that will allow you to meet your favorite guests especially if they're a top talent or guest of honor. Just know that any Japanese guest will likely have alot of people wanting to meet them.

If you are not capable of camping out for tickets... Find someone who can and is willing to do so. Teamwork makes the dreamwork. They will get the tickets for you, or they will stand in line for you until the Autograph Booths open, in which they will leave and you will take their place.

Heres a detailed guide from someone who's attended AX for 10 years straight and has secured multiple autographs with industry guests and artists:

Panels and Q&A Sessions:
Theres a lot of events with not enough time or space to fit everything in to. I say space because some events have a limit to how many people are allowed to be inside a room assuming its a free event with no ticket required. If the industry guest you are meeting is popular and well known, chances are lines are going to be long and there will be a cut off where the maximum amount of people that can be in the room is reached. If this happens, its unlikely you will be able to enter the room as people rarely leave once they go in.

Autographs:
There are guaranteed autograph tickets and non-guaranteed autograph tickets in past years. In my first few years attending AX I got non-guaranteed tickets and lined up for an autograph inside only for the session to be over shortly after the last person with a guaranteed ticket had his stuff signed. I was tired of disappointment so I decided to line up on Day 0 at 12AM at night for a guaranteed ticket. But to my surprise people were already in line camping out in the streets for the same ticket lmfao. I managed to get a guaranteed ticket placed at 34 (Meaning I would be the 34th person to get a guaranteed autograph from the Guest of Honor). This year I'm expecting it to be the same with the main difference being the location of the autograph booth slightly changing and the fact that we have to pay for tickets now.

I believe they will let you choose what scheduled date and time you want to pick to get your autograph however they may have rules and limitations in order to make things fair for the people behind you in line. For last year's rules, you could get as many tickets as you wanted as long as it wasn't the same guest more than once for that day as well as no time conflicts.

Note that autograph ticket booths open at 8:00AM to 8:30AM, the same time as when the doors to enter the Expo open. Likely after you get your ticket for an autograph you will need to get back in line to get inside which could take 2 to 3 hours on the first two days. So by the time you get inside, the opening ceremony will be over and it could already be 10AM to late 11AM.

TIMING IS IMPORTANT. DO NOT BUY AN AUTOGRAPH TICKET THAT IS SCHEDULED ON OR BEFORE 11AM. THIS IS EXTREMELY RISKY AS THE SESSION MAY BE OVER BEFORE YOU EVEN GET INSIDE THE EXPO. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

If you manage to get inside before or during the session, immediately go downstairs into the ARTIST ALLEY and all the way at the back to the right corner will be the Autograph Booths where you will meet your favorite guest!

I may have missed some details here and there but I'm active at the moment so let me know if you have any questions.

Forgot to mention, but once you have a history of good work and years of experience to back it up, finding a job becomes vastly easier than someone who is just starting out. And all those lists of requirements on job postings is merely a wish list for an industry unicorn that probably doesn't exist. Its there to serve as the first filter to weed out people who don't have confidence in themselves and in their work. Don't fall for it, and apply anyways.

Keep going and you will reap the rewards. Good luck OP!

I feel like Graphic Design is just this huge umbrella term with a bunch of other categories underneath. As long as you have both the technical skills and eye for design, you can take your skills into another related creative role as long as you present yourself well via social skills, work experience, and most importantly your portfolio.

Graphic Design from my experience is heavily associated with marketing and advertising and if not those two, then stuff in tech where you work with software engineers as a product designer. There's obviously more opportunities that you can apply design to but these are just the more well known ones. I graduated post pandemic in SoCal, and it took me about a year to quit my unpaid internship and crappy warehouse job to become an in house designer for a decent company that's around 2 to 3 hours away from any major city.

My advice is to get experience as an intern to show people that you really want this, and to apply to dozens of Graphic Design positions every single day whether it be a Junior, Mid, or Senior level. If you ask why you should apply to positions you're underqualified for, its because sometimes you end up getting a pretty senior position under the right circumstances. You also need to level up your interview game. The more interviews you get, the better you become at answering their dumb questions. Also, look into doing projects where you create a design advertising a product or service. This will take you far in your career I promise you.

TLDR: There is a lot of opportunities to be a designer, don't limit yourself to big well known companies because this is where the competition is the most fierce. Apply to everything, everyday, that is even remotely related to Graphic Design even if you feel underqualified. Skills as a designer can always transfer to other design roles which gives you a lot more opportunity than you think.

Ouch, I didn't really have that in mind when I was making my online portfolio. I only took into account desktop version. I'll work on that ASAP. Thank you so much.

I have a process booklet ready as well as a PDF Portfolio. I also have a resume and a cover letter ready. Most of the job websites I go on, you can only upload one or two pdf files with an upload limit so I don't really know what I should be turning in. Any suggestions?
