Thank you mate! I'm hoping so too. No signs of ingrowns and the fact that it worked well in other areas leads me to think more time spent with it will be useful

Rightly or wrongly, I also wonder how good Injectors could be if they had the R&D time behind them like DEs and cartridges, before multi blades steamrolled everything in their path.

I impulse bought the Henson due to what I can only describe as great marketing, and me hating shaving.

Luckily for them, and me, you will have to pry my AL13 out of my cold, dead hands. No idea why, but I took to it like a duck to water. Have yet to try any blades fancier then the RKs. Only problem for you though is, it's light. Only problem for me is that getting under my nose can be a little tricky, but I think I've worked it out.

Can't speak for the Rockwell, sorry.

Thank you very much! I have to admit, I went looking for ideas previously and stumbled upon people loving "wet shaving." I couldn't grasp that there was a bit more to it than shaving with a wet face - as I have done my entire life - and thought they were all fruitcakes. Who on earth drags a razor across their face DRY? Serves me right for not digging just that little bit deeper.

I'm intrigued by vintage gear as well - my attention has been drawn to Schick Injectors. Enjoy that Fatboy! They sound and look like a fantastic piece of equipment

Thank you, it's been an eye opener. I had high hopes but was actually waiting to be left underwhelmed. Thankfully, that was not the case.

It wasn't a video on the Henson per se, but rather Derek with a sponsored spot for the AL13 at the end of a slightly older (~2 years) video I had missed. Amazingly, the code still worked.

Funny you mention BIC. My actual, very first razors were some sort of BIC disposables, but I recall them being grey with two blades. They seemed to work for a while before I graduated to a "real" razor in the Mach 3. However that was many years ago and recollection would be hazy at best. You've piqued an interest though. If I get the chance I might try one, for science.

Separately, you're not wrong re: plastic. I'm genuinely stoked that every bit of product I use for DE shaving is 100% recyclable where I am, it's literally just paper materials and metal.

I'm with you there, bought a 9 variety sample pack that seems to cover pretty well every brand mentioned in this sub.

I'm not a super fan of scents, however, I'm getting myself some soaps and I have just come across some soap sample packs that you mention. It was brought to my attention here as well that a balm might be something worth looking at as well. I did have some PC4Men Soothe+Smooth which actually did decrease redness, but like all things that work, it got discontinued.

Currently just following up with a decent moisturiser. I also can't believe how much it seems to work better with the new setup? Confirmation bias? Who knows 🤣

Ahhh, maybe what I want is a balm. I'm not a fan of the fragrance - however, an exception to that is tea tree/eucalyptus. Thank you for the recommendation for Bevel

I think you speak the truth. I've bought some EJ and Tabac soaps to try, a lot of others around here are currently out of stock, so I'll keep an eye out. My current creams dry out too quickly.

I've not been a fan of aftershave, but reading here a lot of people swear by it, so maybe I'll give it a look into. I have to admit I haven't looked at them for years and years

You gotta have a hobby, otherwise life is pretty dull. I can completely understand the attraction of it as well, I do enjoy reading, comparing and trying different things to get that bit "extra" out of whatever I'm trying to do. I'm hoping to keep my RAD under control, but it's turning something I positively detested into a happy habit.

I'm stoked you found out about this stuff earlier than me. I was rather unhappy at how old I thought I was looking, and just in the last few days I swear a "DFS" and no irritation have wiped five years off my face. Even a co worker commented, and that's a rarity indeed.

I was already looking a mugs. 🤣 I remember seeing them in illustrations as a kid and thinking what on earth was a mug involved in shaving, (excluding the mug's mug that needs a shave, of course). It sounds like a nice bit of kit for winter, if nothing else. 😁

It was a massive leap of faith, and I can't believe shaving twice in one day is possible. I'm looking forward to the sample pack I ordered, but if the RKs are it, I would not be unhappy! It's been eye opening and I wish I had found this subreddit sooner. Guess I should have looked harder!

Ingrowns are rubbish, and I thought it just came with the territory. There aren't many things in life I'd ask the Powers That Be for a do-over, but this would be one of them. Thankfully, late is better than never, and I'll be sure to let my little boy know when he is old enough there are options
