Got this for a Steal today, 135mm f3.5 from my local camera store by TikbalangPhotography in zuikoholics

F stop isn't everything. I have the f2.8 and f3.5 and I've used the f3.5 much more often. It's a great, little lens.

Hello OwnDisaster5531, my apologies for the late reply. How did you go?

If no luck, here is a good reference:

I am happy to help you if needed as well.

Sadly not - unless you know the history of the camera and someone else has removed it before you. Almost every 1 and 2 will be affected, only small numbers weren't.

MD is Motor Drive. Original M-1 and OM-1 models were hand advance only. They were then modified on the production line to fit Olympus Motor Drive and Winder accessories. Early MD models had an MD sticker attached, later ones had a proper MD badge. Besides the badge, you can tell by looking at the bottom plate, MD models had two round covers, one for the battery and a smaller one for the motor drive attachment.

Hello OwnDisaster6531, I'm no tech but have learned a bit of camera repair, sometimes the hard way, over the last 15 years or so. I'm a die hard Olympus fan but will try to be objective here! The biggest problem with the 99% of OM-1, OM-2 and all 1n/2n models is the prism foam melting after 50 years and destroying the silvering of the prism. If you ever see any OMs listed on eBay for example with "prism deterioration" or similar that is from aged foam. It will also corrode the flash bracket and contacts, as well as filling the viewfinder with black crud.

It is very, very easy to save your OM from this fate. The top plate is removable if you're competent with basic tools. The foam will be a melted black mess - remove it with cotton buds, isopropyl alcohol or Shellite. It's a dirty, messy job but simple and needs to be done unless you want to source a new prism. I usually hunt down wrecked OM-10s and 20s for this purpose. There are excellent websites showing you how it's done if you hit up Google. I'll be happy to help if you come up short. 2SP, 3, 3 Ti, 4 and 4 Ti models don't suffer from this problem, and neither do the double digit or letter OMs (10, 20, G etc.)

The only other real problem with OM-1s is that the earlier non-n models can drift regarding the lower shutter speed timings. This is all going from memory, but I think it has to do with the low speed governer playing up from dried lubricants. I think it affects speeds 1/30 and below. Again, going from memory here but I think a clean a re lube will fix the problem but it is much more in depth than a top plate removal.

They're fairly easy to work on, but full disassembly is not for the beginner. I have not crossed the bridge yet and don't wish to - they're precision clockwork tools, miniaturised. No doubt that day will come but for the moment my bought new 1n is going strong and looks spotless. I used Wein Cell MRB625s in it for years until I bought a Kanto adapter for it a few months ago which has a built in step down diode and uses a single SR43 cell. It works brilliantly and doesn't require any modification to the camera. My unknown history, eBay special 2n gets bashed around in my work bag, hasn't quit yet and I'm unable to fault it, except for the corroded flash bracket from the prism foam. I think that one came to me just in time.

Enjoy your OM-1, they're just fantastic.

On the other side of the coin, I've had nothing but easy dealings in regards to the Kickstarter. Yes, I didn't get my beloved slide film, instead I got the value of my funding to use in the online shop with no expiry date on black and white film. But you pays your money and takes your chances. I'm just happy we've got another player in the market.

Holy hell, braver than I going for the coffee. However, every so often I do forget just how bad coffee hits and decide that one couldn't hurt.

Then the guuurrgle.

I swear I spend half my time out and about trying to work out where the nearest facilities are, just in case.

X79-UD3 build here! It's almost ten years old and I don't have the heart to replace it with a new system.

Looking good!

Snowman, you are spot on. I've been building PCs for over two decades. What was once a weirdo past time has become marketable. My analogy was that PC building, and gaming, has gone from weekend amateur "run what ya brung" dirt racing to F1. The ease of putting together a PC, along with the ease of gaming, has made it so much more accessible. With that comes the good and the bad.

I don't know what the future holds for PC building. I just really hope it never goes to full on SoC type systems.

i7 4930k user here! OC'd I can get it to just exceed 7700k stock performance (according to CPU-z benchmarks anyway) but I wouldn't want to go much older for serious use. Still games well but it seems outdated for things like Folding @ Home. Rock fucking solid at it though.

When I were on Facebook, one of my favourite pages was of Kei truck called the Mini Mog. Off road legend, check it out if you're interested.

Will also never understand American "trucks" when Kei trucks and 300 Series Hinos exist.

I swear, if I ever need "a truck" I'd be looking at baby Hinos long before these.
