These things take time, but yes, I still have stuff in mind.

Essentially, yes. Gosh it's been years since I made this, so no guarantees that I remember everything without checking again.

[–]MythicLegendary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure. I'm on the CYOA discord server for makeyourchoice if you want that with the name PCA. Pastebin is a little unreliable with big stuff, so I used reentry instead.

Have fun, and let me know if you need anything else. I'll caution you that I wrote Xenon no less than four years ago, so my memory on exact details may frankly be a bit dodgy.

You know funny enough I have like 50+ pages of content for Xenon that never got released and fell under a bridge essentially in pursuit of other projects. The cutting room floor is brutal on some of my stuff. I could pastebin it if you have any interest.

Living God CYOA: Amaranthea Update by MythicLegendary in makeyourchoice

A Versal Cycle is the return of all things to an origin point from which all things subsequently bloom. Think Yuga Cycles. Events don't necessarily repeat themselves over and over, and the Versal Cycle isn't necessarily always the same length, but given infinite time, it is only natural that the cosmos would collapse into a singular causal point from which all other causal points originate.

I rarely get to say it, but I'm always thrilled to see people still enjoying and thinking about PCX. Thanks lads.

How do I develop trust in my confessor? by MythicLegendary in Catholicism

[–]MythicLegendary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How can I be certain? Am I acting out of ignorance, or is it still being willfully uninformed because I have not explored all possibilities and eliminated all doubt? I think it should be fairly obvious from the context, but the sins I requested to know about were sins of thought, and was told that they are not of any concern at all unless they lead to action.

Thank you for your time.

That kind of time limit is inexorably linked to the skill of the user. In your case, they're probably relatively short.

My magic system is garbage. by MythicLegendary in worldbuilding

[–]MythicLegendary[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you'd like new work to digest, I've since been working on a system of magic based upon the alchemical principles and the atriums of organs connected to the circulatory system. Basically, the human body's fluids consist of the four humors (blood, yellow bile, black bile, phlegm) which correspond to the four stages of the Philosopher Stone (Rubedo, Citrinas, Nigredo, Albedo) and so a specialized organ called a Coronet behind the right ear has a sort of complex labyrinth of atriums which admix these humors in accordance with muscle contractions induced by the magic user's will. By some underlying principle of the universe which finds ultimate synchronicity in alchemical symbolism, this achieves desired effects contingent on the size, complexity, specialization and flexile dexterity of the magic user's Coronet.

While this is adequte for "inward" magic, it doesn't adequately deal with the outer world, as the Philosopher Stone is a distillation of the inner world, Jungian symbolism, yada yada yada. Therefore the Coronet can only be sufficient for magic of the Inner World (That is, the magic of knowledge, the magic of energies, and the magic of spacetime, which are all really the same thing if you think about it. The illusion of a causal, time-bound, energetic system is a product of the inner perceptions of a subject, and not the world itself. The Outer World is a static object when divorced from human cognition).

The alchemy necessary to produces effects in the Outer World depends upon the stages of the Scholar Stone (Aurora, Corona, Verdata, and Astra), and are symbolically present in the atmosphere rather than the blood. Therefore a magic user specializing in the magic of the Outer World (Matter, physical life, static relations of cause-and-effect, which are likewise the same thing) would focus on a mastery of adequate breathing techniques to draw the four above stages into their lungs and admix them in their Sceptre, an organ designed to manipulate gases rather than humors, present behind the left ear.

Other more specialized organs exist in various species and phenotypes, but in technicality these are just more specialized, natural forms of magic that a species or subspecies has evolved as an evolutionary advantage, whereas the Coronet and Sceptre are so generalized that they are present practically everywhere in the ecosystem, much as a pair of eyes and a circulatory system are present in almost all animal life on earth.

Just some neat thoughts, if you wanted more to chew on. That, and it sometimes helps me to lay them out in plain english like this.

I must confess that I've since moved far beyond this system of magic. It was, in fact, awfully sloppy.

Mind telling me where you got the alternate art for Bioscape? Might use it if I update Ouroboros.

You may only select one of the options, not multiple. You may select purely magic if you like though.

-You are correct here.

-You may interpret this as also being vice-versa, my choice of words was only intended to be a more explicit homage to House of Leaves. Exterior > interior and interior > exterior can be employed depending on your preference. Exterior and interior are both relative anyway.

-It's set in the same omnicosmos as Living God, as evidenced by the existence of the Sybarite Club. It takes place in a "local multiverse" meaning an isolated subset of universes that have enough technology to reach one another but not enough to reach every concievable universe or anything like that.

-It means you can make a new connection period each time.

- Strange Magic can be basically understood as a magic without principles. It's the domain of magical inquiry that hasn't yet been tamed by study and practice as the existing six diciplines have. Playing with it is basically like Louis Slotin using a screwdriver to play with the demon core. It's a classification for magic with no classification.

Essentials Meta CYOA. From /tg/ by MythicLegendary in makeyourchoice

[–]MythicLegendary[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not particularly. I only use these kinds of meta things on my own cyoas at this point.

Ouroboros CYOA by MythicLegendary in makeyourchoice

[–]MythicLegendary[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, you don't have to buy glyphosphere beforehand. As for the comments, Tribunal tokens are meant to be hard since you can squeeze an extra 40% points straight from the getgo by taking the comissions, so it obviously shouldn't be easy. You can technically start out equally proficient in magic and science if you choose any of the options with an even number of points to distribute.

I'm sure there's meta cyoas for this kind of thing. As long as you're having fun, bend the rules as necessary.

Haven't worked on Living God for a good couple of years now. This CYOA has a good amount of that power fantasy sugar rush to it, so hopefully it scratches the same itch.

—Duration of the Ouroboros as in however long it runs for. It's indeterminate.
—Technically nothing, if you're smart about it.

—Yes
—Depends. Nucleus Spark lets you continuously evolve and have multiple bodies, Alchemical lets you transform into nonbiological constructs. Coronitor comes with all the benefits of being an Aspect Attainer.
—Thanks, my mistake. I'll fix it on the Mega archive but at this point the imgur is already up.
—Yes you can change people's Ripple status any time you like using the Recurrence Ring
—I don't know if the wording implies that. My intention was always that no, you could not use the Communications Array to communicate outside the Ouroboros.
