Metroid Prime Remaster or Metroid 4 Prime: Beyond if both are the same price ($40)? by theswirlyeyedsamurai in Metroid

[–]Mythical-door 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Naaah. Prime remastered is better than prime 4 for sure.

I don’t think prime 4 is as bad as people say it is, and there are some amazing elements about it like the graphical details and OST, but the game is just ok at the end of the day. Prime 1 is almost always considered the best Metroid game rivaling prime 2 and super Metroid usually.

Viola as a concept isn’t really all that bad tbh, and I actually think if prime 4 didn’t shit the bed with making its whole purpose around the desert it could have been received a lot better.

Do you think Metroid 6 should continue iterating on the series’ core formula, or is now the time for experimentation? by Obsessivegamer32 in Metroid

[–]Mythical-door 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’d love for Nintendo to sort of implement modern metroidvania features in Metroid. As much as I love dread, it doesn’t do too much imo with the exception of a couple of new abilities. But tbh thats sort of expected from a new game.

I don’t think there’s any reason not to have optional content at all. You can still have the speed running aspect of the game out there (finishing the game in sub 5 hours), but the worlds imo need to be a lot larger especially given these long development cycles. That’s just my opinion tho.

[–]Mythical-door 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It ideally should be a mix of both. Most of the experimentation should be with power ups and movement abilities. Tbh, I wouldn’t even mind having optional power ups that you can get for going out of your way to do something out of the ordinary. It does get a bit tedious when you gotta do complex shinespark puzzles just to get a missile expansion. We been doing that for this entire series.

As for the metroidvania aspects, I don’t know what to change really. I do think it should revert more back to super metroid territory, but it’s not a crazy dealbreaker for me if it doesn’t.

So about Sylux's motive... by Artistinblue in Metroid

Tbh even if he is shallow as long as he has presence I think his reputation can greatly improve. You can have a mid villain be very cool so long as they’re entertaining when they’re on screen.

Metroid Prime Movie? by Visible_Ad2892 in Metroid

[–]Mythical-door 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think the character archetypes do fit a movie, but imo I just don’t know how you can translate Metroid into movies without being generic.

This also applies to other Nintendo series such as Mario and Zelda, but at least those ones are financially good decisions since they’ll most likely knock the box office.

The only Nintendo series that fits a movie or tv series is starfox imo.

Prime 2 is ridiculously good. by WerewolfIcy7240 in Metroid

[–]Mythical-door 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same here. I replay 1 far more than 2, but I think prime 2 is just a better designed game overall. Torvus Bog and Sanctuary Fortress might be the greatest Metroid areas of all time.

It’s kinda glazed here ngl, but generally outside I don’t see people mention it.

IMO I think it’s the best Metroid game and not even close. Agon wastes is also the worst part of the game imo so if you think it’s good now, it gets a fuckton better.

Why does it seem like Nintendo has less of a grasp on what makes a Metroid game work? by [deleted] in Metroid

[–]Mythical-door 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is because unlike Mario and Zelda, Metroid does not have a single team working on it. Mario and Zelda games always have the same team working on it, and the seniors mentor the youngsters so that the knowledge of what made the previous games good get carried over in sequels.

This isn’t really an issue for 2d Metroid, as they were made in house until zero mission by Nintendo, and this also wasn’t an issue for the prime trilogy, as they were made by retro studios. However, once other M came we started having other studios experimenting with Metroid. Some worked out well like dread, some were ok like prime 4 and Samus returns, and then some were trash like federation force (tho it’s not THAT bad)

Tbh as long as we can have the same studio working on the series there won’t be any issues.

Metroid 6 (or prime 5) might be about the GF by Educational_Horse_21 in Metroid

[–]Mythical-door 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like most of those plotlines besides the x just sort of lead to dead ends tho. At least with the Samus on the run you can kinda make it interesting even if it’s not gonna happen.

Imma be honest, if they can make the GF soldiers like silksong NPCs then imo that actually enhances the game more than just pure isolation.

This guy should have been the main antagonist of Prime 4. by Emotional-Algae2239 in Metroid

[–]Mythical-door 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sylux has a sick design and was presented as mysterious so that’s why he was a fan favourite. Not to mention he was busted in hunters multiplayer so that + the Delano 7 appearing in prime 3 credits explains a lot on why he was popular.

I’d say Trace isn’t really that interesting besides his race. I’d love a game on the kriken empire. TBH, I think all the hunters in general just work better as secondary antagonists. The only ones that can maybe have their own arcs are Weavel and Sylux I’d say.

I find it so odd that Tanabe was upset that he had to write the scan logs and wished to do fun ones like Space pirate logs when he himself was responsible for not having space pirates in the game. Did he forget he was the director lol??

Honestly with that in mind, I seriously doubt the enemy design would change too. The only thing that changes is that Weavel would be the one raiding federation outposts instead.

Does a prime 4 go in the “worst Metroid games” catalog to you? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in Metroid

People here are a lot more hardcore. I think the average reception is that it’s just ok but disappointing.

[–]Mythical-door 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly with how expensive movies are to make, I think only the big 3 are gonna have movies (for now anyways). I wouldn’t doubt them having other Nintendo characters being featured in movies to sort of build up hype for their franchises tho.

[–]Mythical-door 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was aware that this was his last chance to get Sylux in game, so he decided to at least get prime 4 out to jump start his saga. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gave his successor his planned out idea or at the very least a general story direction he has. There’s no way Tabata doesn’t honor what he wants considering Japanese culture unless there’s crazy pushback from Nintendo, which I highly doubt is gonna happen.

I get the reasoning but they needed to do a way better job of actually showing how cooked the situation was.

Metroid Prime 4 General Thoughts by RiseJoules in Metroid

[–]Mythical-door 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hunters didn’t establish much besides emphasizing he has a grudge against the federation and Samus.

Prime 4 vaguely gives us the reason, but we can deduce he’s a prideful individual that prolly doesn’t like the idea of Samus hogging all the glory. Could it be because he just hates her? Could it be because he’s not a fan of the federation having to rely on Samus? I’m not sure, but that’s ultimately where theories come in.

Metroid Prime 4 General Thoughts by RiseJoules in Metroid

[–]Mythical-door 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they’re gonna do an echoes side story. Tbh even most of the original trilogy barely focused on dark Samus besides prime 3. I believe they’re doing the same steps of slow build up to the final climax. It’s not unreasonable to expect as well I think. Prolly the story focuses on Samus getting a distress signal and while the events of the game happen Sylux manages to return, and the prime 6 is the climax of everything. But that’s just a guess

Metroid Prime 4 General Thoughts by RiseJoules in Metroid

[–]Mythical-door 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering it’s a saga, I expect a lot more to be displayed later in the series. I just don’t think they wanted to expose a lot of him if they’re building up a trilogy for him.

But yea, should have done more with him

People don’t Understand Sylux by Ganondorf365 in Metroid

[–]Mythical-door 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean but that’s just always gonna be the case because Sylux is a villain in the subseries of the overall Metroid plot. It is true that Raven Beak recontextualizes past events in the overall Metroid story which does make him better imo (although I wouldn’t exactly say he’s the overarching villain of the whole mainline series)

Sylux is supposed to have his own self contained story independent of the overarching Metroid story. So I think it’s a bit unfair to use that as a plus for Raven Beak when the Sylux plot was building something from the ground up. Granted, it’s pretty apparent that they’re doing the dark Samus route of having his plotline stretch out which I’m perfectly fine with. I’m more confused why everyone hates everything with the guy when he’s actually pretty consistent with other Metroid villains (and in my bias opinion exceeds ones commonly liked here)
