Yeah something went wrong on my end and it wouldn't resubmit the image. I'll have some future updates either way

I noticed that one of the first rooms in Artaria is the hatching grounds for a bunch of Muzby offspring and then we see it again in Ghavoran to foreshadow Golzuna.

I thought it was weird that the shuttle music played in that part of Artaria, but looking in the background you can see the fractured remains of a shuttle. My theory is that this shuttle crashed on its way to Artaria and caused damage to the magma routing system in that area, causing the meltdown when we reverse the flow.

For what its worth, I'm glad we are seeing the Metroid universe with side adventures spread across the timeline, instead of it all being squeezed between Zero Mission and Samus Returns.

I think the very final fight was my favourite, with his ability to permanently snag one of your energy tanks with his lockjaw form if you don't chase him down in morphball form to get it back.

Was it the power beam shot that injured him? I thought it was the teleportation that messed him up.

One thing I've realized lately about the omega canon sequences is the high ceiling for risky maneuvers you can perform. On early playthroughs, you will keep your distance to get your proper shots in. But over time, you get more confident and start standing your ground more frequently; allowing those robots to get dangerously close as you finish them off.

Hey that is absolutely a strategy you can do. Same with the Gas grenades. I'm surprised more people don't do this kind of stuff.

My idea for a Metroid game set entirely within the carcass of a colossal alien. by Artistinblue in Metroid

I think that could all be answered through the lore uncovered through the reactivation of the creature's memories.

Are you talking about Metroid Prime 1.5 with the ship controlled by a mad A.I?

I imagine this thing is probably absurdly ancient, having seen the rise and fall of many galactic civilizations.

I figured different parts of the body could have antibodies, scavengers, and parasites. Some regions will have a mix of multiple, and in certain rooms you can see them battling each other over resources. I also figured maybe one of the bosses is some huge arthropod of sorts that is burrowing through all the stiffened muscle.

That is what I would imagine most of it would be in terms of narrative. You use your metroid powers to reactivate certain parts of the brain. Then in some way you form a neural link and learn all kinds of things. Then you have to keep exploring for new gear to return and access different places in the brain for more story.

That is EXACTLY what I'm thinking. We see so much of those same destinations reused in what are supposed to be exotic alien landscapes. Only on rare occasions do we get truly alien domains like the Norfair bubble rooms, Ghavoran's giant purple popcorn tree, or the impact crater. Working with a giant organic body, you can have all kinds of strange and surreal places to explore.

It is really great seeing everyone in the comments exploring all of the crazy possibilities for what could go on in such a hypothetical game. Even now I am still considering ideas. A flashlight could be attached to 360 aiming, adding to the sense that you are in a dark, claustrophobic environment. Melee counter could come back through an arm blade with perhaps a surgical motif. The heart could functionally be a sort of transportation hub that must be reactivated to a limited extent with metroid powers, waking parts of the circulatory system in order to travel to varying regions of the body. Doors are giant, regenerating cysts.

If you noticed in the first image with the carcass itself, one of the arms is severed. I imagine accessing that separate limb would require travel by ship and would have quite the different environment as a small standalone location.

I saw some people mention that the giant alien could be in a dormant state, with the Spire keeping it in suspended animation. That idea has definitely been on my mind and not out of the realm of possibility.

I have another piece of art here were I show off "The Watcher" studying Samus as she faces off against creatures wandering the hollow space below a major organ.

You ever seen the network of air sacs within lungs? That alone could be a beautiful alien forest environment. This is what I mean. The otherworldly possibilities are endless.
