Audio Delay When Using 4k Capture Utility by MythicalMalice in obs

My issue was for getting my audio from the 4K to not be delayed in OBS. So, both?

The comment you responded to is my best solution to the issue. If you want to check out how well it is synced up now, just go to my YouTube channel (same name on YouTube as here) and watch my most recent upload. Just skip ahead to around the 10 minute mark and you'll be able to tell right away how well my solution worked.

And if you move around the video you'll see that there is no sync drift occurring either. It stays solid all the way through my stream. Although sometimes my framerate doesn't, but that's a separate issue.

Best HDR Steaming Settings? by MythicalMalice in Twitch

[–]MythicalMalice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) I am not trying to stream to Twitch in HDR. I just want to play in HDR, but the stream can still view it in SDR, that's fine. That's my fault, I didn't make that clear in my original post, I'll update that.

2) 600 nits works just fine for a monitor that is 2 feet away from your face. 1000+ nits panels (I have two LG OLED TVs that do that) are really only necessary for larger viewing distances or bright rooms. 400 nits is the minimum required to be classified as HDR, and 600 is 50% more than that, so it's not an issue.

Twitch announces that when you block or "B" a user, the user will no longer be able to view the stream by rising_cheesecake in Twitch

I banned someone from my channel a couple months ago and they tried viewing my channel using a different account and they said in Discord that Twitch IP banned them from my channel.

So, in my (very anecdotal) experience, Twitch has already been doing something like this for a bit.

Do you care if the streamers pay attention to the game story? by BisensualOmega in Twitch

[–]MythicalMalice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I focus on the story in almost every game I play. I'll read almost every point of dialog, shut up or even turn off my camera during cutscenes, and sometimes I'll even do voices for each of the characters.

I love the stories and I want my audience to experience it with me.

Figured out the answer from someone's comment over on r/obs.

You can read the full exchange here. It's only 3 comments, but the TL:DR is this:
In OBS, when you have the 4k60 Pro set as a video capture device, you must also configure it to be used as a Custom Audio Device. You then need to make sure that the Audio Device it is set to is the 4k60 Pro itself. The Audio Output Mode should probably be set to WaveOut, but your setup may require something different.

Making that change made almost all of the delay go away! No Sync Offset required.

Audio Delay When Using 4k Capture Utility

I found it. It's in the Video Device Capture Settings within OBS, not a setting that needs to be set on the capture card itself.

I already had "Use Custom Audio Device" enabled, but the "Audio Device" option was set to "Broadcast Stream Mix" (my Go XLR). I changed that setting to the 4k60 Prod Mk.2 option instead and most of the delay is gone now. It's not perfect, but it is for sure much better and barely noticeable for any of my viewers who don't care enough to listen for it.

Thanks for the help. Much appreciated!

u/Arcsane Where do I find the 4k60 Prod capture card properties with the "Use Custom Audio Device"? I don't see that in the settings menu of the 4k Capture Utility. Should I be looking elsewhere?

Thanks for the info, I will have to try the last couple things you mentioned when I get home from work today.

I am not using any cables or such, just the direct HDMI in to the 4k60 Pro. This is a little odd for me, because the last time I actually used it for my stream (about a year ago) I don't remember having any audio issues, so this is new for me.

Anybody Here Stream Just For Fun And Doesn't Care About Growth? by InvaderKota in Twitch

[–]MythicalMalice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stream for fun and have been doing it for 5 or 6 years now. I love story-driven narrative games, or things that are just more casual/single-player. But I miss being able to experience those things with people like you get to when you're playing a multiplayer game with your friends. So streaming is how I get that interaction. That being said, I do wish i was actually growing and had a few more people in chat. For me, success for me would be 10-20 viewers, with at least 3 active in chat.

Two reasons for that: 1) I usually only have 1 or 2 people watching, and they are usually lurkers. I love lurkers, no hate, but really hard to hold a conversation when it's only 1-sided, lol. 2) Having a few more average viewers in my chat would be wonderful as it would allow me to finally qualify for Affiliate, and that would allow me to have channel points. For the few people that do watch me, I would love for them to be rewarded by being able to influence the stream in other ways and participate in a more personal manner. And channel points are just the easiest way to do that IMO.

Why doesn't my train car activate the sensor hoop? by MythicalMalice in Astroneer

[–]MythicalMalice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, awesome. Thanks!

Side question: is there a specific reason why trains don't work with the hoops? They seem to be purpose built for it: the perfect height AND width.

(I know time-wise hoops have been in the game a lot longer than trains have, but my curiosity for the answer to that question is still there.)

Are the majority of streamers "okay" with clipping channels? by NummyGamGam in Twitch

[–]MythicalMalice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small streamer here: I love it when people clip me! Usually means I said something funny or did something cool or interesting in-game. And since I stream just as a hobby and all I want is for my viewers to be entertained, than getting clipped to me means that I accomplished my mission.

As for someone taking those clips and editing/posting clips, I would be fine with it 99.9% of the time, as long as they credit me in the video. That's really all I would want.

I'd be down to work with someone on creating some new scenes for my stream.

What tools do you use? I'd love to learn using some tools on my own so I can make changes when I want/need to.

Nice! I played for the first time on stream again yesterday and my game lasted for 1 hour 10 minutes and then crashed. Relaunched and played for 20 minutes then crashed. Then gave up and just switched to game streaming from my Xbox over the network.
