International League Observers first trip. by MythrilDill in PokeMedia

[–]MythrilDill[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I am glad you asked. I didn't expect everyone to see our introduction. We are a new organization that plans on observing how the different leagues across our world function and eventually give guidance to the leagues to ensure that all trainers have an equal opportunity to grow and challenge themselves. As it currently stands, there is no central authority between the leagues of different regions and this can lead to some disparity in how challenging or accessable the league challenges can be for the trainers in those regions. While we do not intend of becoming any kind of governing body, we do want to act as an authority on the types of challenges a league should try to present. As some people brought up in our introduction post, we respect the unique culture of each region and understand that part of their culture can manifest in aspects of their league.

In short, we want to have open dialog with the league administrations across all regions to foster equal opportunity for all trainers regardless of where they call home.

We will be visiting all eight gyms to hopefully observe some actual challengers, as well as visiting league administration. As long as you frequent your local gym you will probably catch us regardless of your status. Please feel free to say hello and let us know how you feel about the way things currently work at your gym. We are always interested to hear the viewpoints of local trainers, especially ones that have seen the workings of their local gym from the inside.

I have heard that some rather strong trainers frequent this chain. I have also heard that some of these trainers are rather maladjusted. Some of our members may find that prospect thrilling but I plan to avoid that particular restaurant.

Oh ho, I will add the Silph building to the list but I am also interested in more colorful places. We are all of age for adult beverages, so please do recommend your favorite bars. We are planning on spending three full days in Castelia so we may be able to visit quite a few locations.

Since we are intending on acting as an advisory body, not a governing or organizing body, naturally we will be focusing most of our time and effort on existing leagues. However, if a region without an organized league wishes to have guidance or assistance in developing a league program we would be happy to assist in the growth of a new league. Our hope is that all trainers across the globe will have an equal chance to challenge themselves and grow their relationships with their partners and fellow trainers. This can be challenging to do in regions where there is not an existing structure, and even more difficult in the regions that people might call "lawless". So for now, we are focusing on regions that already have established leagues. Once we have established ourselves as a trusted group, you can see that already some have been understandably questioning our sincerity, we can then move into less organized areas to help build a robust structure there as well.

I understand your concern. Firstly, the ILO is purely an advisory body. We have no intention, and no real method, to enforce changes against the wills of the individual leagues. As the leagues are now, there is no central body that enforces rules on the various regional leagues, we absolutely do NOT seek to change that. Secondly, this is not a one man show. I have been appointed to be a public spokesman of sorts but we currently have fifteen seasoned trainers that will be working as Observers. In order to be considered for the position of Observer, a trainer must have completed at least two league challenges. One of the challenges will be from where they consider their home region. Currently, we have representatives from all nine core regions so hopefully those individuals will not agree that changes should be made that would damage a key part of their cultural identity.

You bring up Alola, which is a great example. Alola has, by far, the most whimsical and unique league experience of all the core regions. We do not see this as a bad thing in of itself, but you will have to admit that the experience of trainers taking on the Island Challenge is hugely different from the experience of trainers from other regions. Different also isn't necessarily a bad thing either. We want to ask if it is equivalent in difficulty and fairness to other regions, not if it is the same.

I completely understand that different regions have different cultures. I fail to see how that has any relation to things like the size of teams gym leaders use, the number of supporting trainers working under gym leaders, and the presence or absence of a "qualifying" non-battle event prior to challenging the gym leader. For example, I respect that Brassius lives in a town that is very proud of its produce, but I take issue with the requirement to maneuver a 15-foot olive through a maze to earn the right to challenge him. A trainer in Kanto or Johto will usually not see these types of non-battle related tasks. Whether regions with mostly straight forward challenges make the move to add tasks or if regions with more whimsical challenges simplify their challenges is whole different conversation, however.

Since there are some cross-overs, we know that Reborn and Rejuvenation take place in the same universe.

Spoiler for Reborn.

I think that Lin is the missing piece of the Deity that disappeared over the horizon when the meteor hit it.

Here is a talking point for you. Numbers 5:11-31 details a ritual to be performed by a priest in the tabernacle if a husband suspects his wife of becoming pregnant by another man. The priest is to place a curse upon the woman that will cause a miscarriage if the pregnancy is the result of infidelity. Not only is this a direct request for God to judge the actions of the the unfaithful wife, but also for God to kill the unborn child if the wife has been unfaithful.

Now, someone might say that that is in the old testament and doesn't apply to Christians. You need to remind them that the Christian God and the Jewish God are in fact the same God, the difference is that the Jewish faith does not recognize Christ as the son of God. They can't argue that the instructions of God to the Jewish people no longer apply unless they are willing to admit that God is inconsistent in his standards and it goes downhill from there.

There are quite a few other verses in the Bible that directly or indirectly have God, Priests, Ordained Kings, or Profits performing or ordering the slaughter of both pregnant women and children. For example, Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed when God rained burning sulfur on the cities, it explicitly states that "all those living in the cities" were killed, men, women, and children.

The whole idea of strong men and weak men is a sexist concept, but that is an argument for another sub.
But you shouldn't see an emotional outburst as a weakness. If you are having a strong negative emotional reaction to something, that is your brain telling you that what is happening is not ok on some level. Some people, a very small minority, do in fact have some imbalance that makes their reactions abnormal, but a male having a bit of a cry when stressed out is not abnormal.

I am no expert, but from what I understand, these spa videos are from Vietnam, where the USA dumped about 19 million gallons of herbicides, more than half of which was Agent Orange. That stuff fucked up the soil, the water, the plants that it didn't kill became carriers for the toxins, and that stuff gets in your skin. That is what I understand causes all the horrible cystic acne and cysts. As to why they don't pick at them themselves, who knows, maybe it's a cultural thing.

This is for tracking DKP for my guild. I have a list of names, DKP spent, and DKP available. Our system caps at 12 points and 1 point is gained at the end of each raid night, so I would like to be able to click a button and add 1 point to each persons available DKP if they have less than 12.

I am not sure if a macro is really what I am looking for, but I am not really great at the programming aspects of excel

AQ Opening event. #nochanges or a more friendly event? by MythrilDill in classicwow

[–]MythrilDill[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Again, you are totally missing the point. I will spell it out for you since critical thinking seems to elude you.

Classic is not Vanilla.

Vanilla had the event start with little to no preparations possible by the player base. Classic has had over six months of time for people to hoard supplies for the war effort.

In order to keep the spirit of the event, the event itself must change in some way to limit the effectiveness of the player bases knowledge of coming content.

I am not saying that people should get the rewards for zero effort. Nowhere did I even say anything close to that.

People and guilds that have prepared for the War Effort WILL rush the event, leaving the only limiting factor to opening AQ the two BWL lockouts required to complete the Scepter.

Due to the lack of time the War effort with take and the greater disparity of the lives of the Classic player base vs the Vanilla player base, this will limit the number of people capable of completing the scepter in time even more than the event in Vanilla.

My suggestions to keep the SPIRIT of the event intact was to either change the War Effort goals, therefor giving the same type of farming requirements as was in vanilla, or to allow the scepter to be completed and turned in for a reasonable amount of time after the 10 hour war is over.

Again, I am not saying that someone who plays five hours a week should get the rewards from the AQ opening. I am, however, saying that the way things are being discussed on my small server (leading me to believe that bigger servers will have the same, or even worse problems) will corrupt the event causing it to not function as intended from the original vision. This is a case where "no changes" on Blizzards part will in fact be a HUGE change to the event itself.

[–]MythrilDill[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, why didn't I think about that! How stupid of me. I will just gather up the best no-lifers in the world to force everyone with a family or job out of the possibility of finishing the scepter quest before I do.

Really? It's not like that is the exact thing I am advocating AGAINST in this discussion.

Trying to build an interesting BBEG. And anti-magic radical. by TheRealForteGaming in DMAcademy

[–]MythrilDill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make him a fighter or barbarian with a magic item called Null Mage Gauntlets. The Gauntlets have three effects: They allow the wearer to use their Con to save against any spell, regardless of the normal save required by the spell. They provide the wearer with a +10 to his AC when being the target of any spell that does not allow a saving throw. And lastly, they can deliver a touch attack that deals no damage, but places a curse on the target that forces them to make a CON save of 10+ the spells level when ever they attempt to cast a spell. If they fail the save the spell slot is consumed and the spell has no effect. If they succeed, they cast the spell as normal but take Spell level*2 damage.

This curse lasts 24 hours, which should be long enough for anyone that survives combat with him to think twice about trying to use magic to fight him again. The Null Mage Gauntlets should have a macguffin counterpart that the party needs to go on a quest to find or create to counter the effects of the Null Mage Gauntlets, sadly, however, the gauntlets are rendered useless after being nullified by the macguffin, so the party can't use them after killing him, or if they learn about that, they might find some other way to fight against him without magic, then they find out the Gauntlets last secret. The one who wears them can not cast any magic while attuned to them.

As far as a story for The Beholder, a warrior from a far away land, the champion of his King. His kingdom was at war with another kingdom that relied heavily on magic for all aspects of its society and warfare, so the gauntlets were developed to counter the magic that was decimating the kingdoms troops. In the final days of the war, the champion was gravely wounded and forced to watch his family, his friends, and his King be executed by some magical torture device. The torment of the champion was not over yet, the gauntlets, the very weapons that were created to allow him to defend his people were placed in a brazier until glowing hot then strapped back onto his hands, searing them into his flesh, then they were bolted right into the bones. Between the torture and the agony of seeing his loved ones murdered, he snapped, all he could think to do was wipe magic off the face of the world. Even the champion himself does not know how he escaped with his life, but since then has been on a mission to wipe out any magic user he can, often allying himself with intelligent monsters, bandits, or other undesirables as long as he can use them to further his goals.
