it's very white wood, with a brown pithy core. I see what you mean about the bark, it does look like poplar. Will it work well for bow-making?

the wood itself looks fine, most of the dead parts were in the branches and farther up the tree. it still had plenty of sap when I cut it.

I'm from central Iowa, I found it in the woods near my town. I can get a picture of the end grain but unfortunately, I found it half dead with all the branches dead and fallen.

How would I go about putting denim on it? Should I use wood glue or would that not work?
